Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is no longer the most powerful smartphone platform. MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus introduced
MediaTek today officially unveiled the Dimensity 9200 Plus top single-chip system. Previously, the prototype of a smartphone on this platform has already put all the current flagships on the SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in AnTuTu and Geekbench tests, so from now on Dimensity 9200 Plus is the most powerful SoC on the market.

The platform is manufactured by TSMC in a 4nm process. The CPU of the single-chip system is represented by the Arm Cortex-X3 supercore, operating at a frequency of 3.35 GHz. There are also three Cortex-A715 cores at 3.0GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0GHz. In comparison with the regular Dimensity 9200, the Plus version has increased the frequencies of absolutely all cores. Actually, this is the key to a significant increase in productivity. The SoC also includes the Immortalis-G715 GPU - its frequency has also been increased by 17%. The platform received the HyperEngine 6.0 engine, which is responsible for real-time ray tracing at the hardware level. MediaTek’s proprietary Game Adaptive Control Technology (MAGT) is designed to reduce power consumption during games by up to 12%.
Dimensity 9200 Plus supports WiFi-7 and 5G, Wi-Fi UltraSave energy-saving technology, and Bluetooth LE Audio.
The first Dimensity 9200 Plus smartphone is expected this month - iQOO Neo8 Pro. This platform is also credited to the promising Redmi K60 Ultra.

Smartphones have lost out to sports shoes, soft drinks, restaurants and television in terms of satisfaction of Americans
The American Customer Satisfaction Index is an economic indicator that measures customer satisfaction in the US economy.
If we evaluate smartphones, the iPhone showed a slight increase and overtook Samsung, taking first place (smartphones from these companies scored 81 and 80 points, respectively). Google came in third with 78 points and Motorola came in fourth with 75 points. Apple received two points more than the average score in the smartphone category. In general, the index of satisfaction of Americans with smartphones was 79 points.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index surveyed nearly 16,000 Americans from April 2022 to March 2023. Apple and Samsung 5G models scored 81 each, non-5G iPhone models scored 78, and non-5G Samsung phones scored 74.
Interestingly, when looking at the overall satisfaction graph of Americans across different product categories, smartphones are outperformed by sports shoes, soft drinks, restaurants, online shopping, and television.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will get bigger screens, as well as periscope modules with 5-6x optical zoom
A well-known insider and analyst at the investment company TF International Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo, shared details about the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphones. According to the informant, these models will receive larger screens - with a diagonal of 6.3 and 6.9 inches, respectively. That is, when compared with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the screens will increase by 0.2 inches.

Why did Apple need to increase the displays? This will be one of the measures that will allow the installation of a new periscope module with improved zoom capabilities in smartphones. It is expected that such a module will provide an optical zoom of 5-6x. Another innovation of the iPhone 16 Pro could be the Face ID under-screen system, then there will be no need for a screen cutout.
If we talk about the iPhone 15, then rumors circulating on the Web attribute the periscope module to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but the iPhone 15 Pro (according to, again, rumors) will not have it.
Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo made a lot of accurate predictions about promising Apple devices. For example, about transferring Apple laptops from a butterfly keyboard to a scissor keyboard.
