Microsoft has started selling licensed digital copies of Windows 11. You no longer need to install Windows 10 first Windows 11 has been released for a long time, but so far Microsoft has not sold digital licenses to install this version of the operating system. The user was offered either a boxed version of the OS, or get a system with a new PC, or upgrade from Widnwos 10. Now, Microsoft has begun selling digital licenses to install Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Home.

The launch of the Windows 11 operating system took place on October 5, 2021, however, ordinary users could not purchase a digital license to install the operating system on their home PCs. They had to install Windows 10 and upgrade to Windows 11.

Windows 10 is still available for purchase, and users don’t have the option to get Windows 11 on a USB drive like they did with Windows 10. Users are only offered to download the digital version.

Exactly when Microsoft switched to selling Windows 11 is unclear. According to PCMag, this could have happened as early as May, but it hasn’t been mentioned until now.

Windows 11 Home is on offer for $139 and Windows 11 Pro is $199. Current Windows 10 users can still upgrade to Windows 11 through Windows Update or several other methods. According to Microsoft, Windows 10 will be supported until at least October 2025.

Today, Xiaomi released its financial report for the second quarter of 2022. Among other things, it provides interesting statistics on the proprietary MIUI shell.

According to Xiaomi, the total number of monthly active users in the second quarter successfully broke the record, reaching 547 million. The statistics take into account users from all over the world, not just in China.

If we take into account only China, then in July the number of monthly active users reached 140.2 million, also a new record high.

In total, there were 17.8 million new MIUI users worldwide and 4.6 million in China in the second quarter.

Recall that in November 2021, Xiaomi announced the overcoming of MIUI milestone of 500 million worldwide.

The official debut of MIUI took place in the summer of 2010, in August. The history of MIUI began with hundreds of beta testers. And five years later, in 2015, the number of users exceeded 100 million. Then growth began to accelerate. The company reported 200 million users in 2018 and 300 million in 2019. As of January 2021, the number of MIUI users worldwide has exceeded 400 million.

Recall that on August 15 in the afternoon, the Wildberries marketplace website changed its name to Berries. Later, the company said that the new site name was part of a marketing campaign, the company did not confirm or deny the fact of changing the site name on an ongoing basis. Already on August 16, the site began to be called as before.

Earlier, the head of the company, Tatyana Bakalchuk, in response to the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry Denis Manturov on the Russification of foreign names, promised to consider this issue.
