Naturally, this does not mean at all that all these models will immediately stop receiving software updates – fresh firmware for them will continue to be released for a long time, as beta versions are transferred to the release (final) status. However, we can already say that these models will not receive anything fresher than MIUI 13 (MIUI 14 will not be released until November).

Xiaomi also announced the recruitment of participants in the Android 13 beta testing group for the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition gaming smartphone – the test will be launched before the end of this month.

Foldable smartphone shipments to grow by almost 70 in 2022

Analyst firm IDC has unveiled its new study, according to which global shipments of foldable phones in 2022 will reach 13.5 million units. If we take into account that 8.1 million such devices were shipped in 2021, then the growth will be 66.6%. Experts note that the growth of the foldable smartphone market is largely due to the emergence of Samsung’s Flip and Fold lines. In particular, user interest is fueled by the recent launch of the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4, according to IDC.

Foldable smartphone shipments to grow by almost 70% in 2022

In the future, sales of folding devices will also grow: for example, next year the supply of such models is expected to increase by 55.1%. In 2026, foldable smartphone shipments will reach 41.5 million units, with a compound annual growth rate of 38.7% between 2021 and 2026.

Analysts say the commercial market is ripe for the use of foldables as two-in-one devices that can replace both a phone and a tablet. But while the foldable phone market is expected to grow by almost 70 percent this year, they won’t go mainstream just yet. According to experts, such models will remain niche and flagship premium devices.

Firstly, the source says about the P50 Pocket New clamshell, that is, it will be the successor to the P50 Pocket. True, the name hints at the fact that it is more about updating than about a full-fledged new model. In particular, there were rumors that the new version will receive a Snapdragon 778G SoC against Snapdragon 888 in the current model, that is, the P50 Pocket New will be a simplified and probably cheaper model.

Secondly, we are waiting for some kind of Watch GT Cyber smart watch. There are no details here, and it’s pointless to guess, since the line (Watch GT) has existed for a long time, but we haven’t seen Cyber models before, so it can be either something new or just some new version of an existing model.

The announcement may take place on October 25 or close to this date.
