Xiaomi has not yet presented its budget smartphone Redmi 12, but the device briefly appeared on the manufacturer’s Portuguese website. This page has now been removed.

Xiaomi Redmi 12 is almost a copy of Redmi 10, only Xiaomi raised the price by 45 euros. The novelty appeared on the company's website

Most of the parameters are the same as what the Digital Chat Station insider described, but there are differences. For example, the novelty will not have any 67-watt charging, which is generally logical. The smartphone will receive the usual 18-watt charging.

But on the other hand, the MediaTek Helio G88 will really serve as the heart, the smartphone will have 4 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of flash memory, a 5000 mAh battery and a 50 MP main camera. Also, the device will receive a large Full HD + display with a frequency of 90 Hz and a diagonal of 6.79 inches.

As a result, if we compare the new product with Redmi 10 (there was no Redmi 11 model), we will get the same platform, the same memory subsystem and battery, the same camera, and the screen will become much larger.

The problem is that on the same Portuguese website, the price of the novelty was indicated as equal to 210 euros. At the same time, Redmi 10 once entered the European market with a price of 165 euros. It turns out that over the year Xiaomi has not changed almost anything in the smartphone, but made it much more expensive.

Data about the smartphone was provided by insider Kasper Skrzypek, who previously correctly predicted the appearance of Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge, Redmi 10 Prime, Redmi Pad.

Nvidia Enters Quantum Computing with Quantum Cloud

Nvidia Enters Quantum Computing with Quantum Cloud

Nvidia has launched a cloud service for quantum computing as it seeks to capitalize on a field that is receiving funding around the world even though few applications have been built in the area so far.

According to Tim Costa, director of high-performance computing and quantum computing at Nvidia, Quantum Cloud will initially include a data center equipped with artificial intelligence chips and systems that together emulate a quantum computer. Unlike other cloud services, Nvidia does not currently have a quantum computer attached, but it will provide access to third-party quantum computers in the future, Costa said ahead of the GPU technology conference.

Quantum Cloud was years late to an already crowded arena. Microsoft launched Azure Quantum in 2019, and Amazon Web Services introduced Braket the same year. IBM-backed startup Strangeworks Inc. was founded in 2017 and has dozens of quantum computers in its cloud. But Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Alphabet Inc.'s Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are integrating Nvidia's quantum simulator into their offerings.

Countries and corporations are pouring billions of dollars into quantum computing research, although there are only a few known cases where a quantum computer has had practical applications. The global fervor stems from promises of computing speeds millions of times faster than today's supercomputers.

For most of the 2010s, Nvidia remained on the sidelines. But it will now become a strong player in quantum research after its GPUs paid dividends with their ability to quickly perform certain types of calculations.

A similar version of these calculations is used in quantum computer simulations, making Nvidia AI chips like the H100 Tensor Core GPUs an important component of quantum research. According to Costa, the GPU is powerful enough to run classical algorithms that were once too large for computers, such as those used to discover drugs and new materials, as well as in other scientific fields.

Nvidia also said its chips will be used in the ABCI-Q supercomputer being built by Fujitsu Ltd. for the Japan National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. The supercomputer will use more than 2,000 Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs and will be deployed early next year. The company also said that supercomputers from the Danish foundation Novo Nordisk and the Australian supercomputing research center Pawsey, which are engaged in quantum computing research, will also use Nvidia hardware.
