Xiaomi Pad 5 has an older brother. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4 tablet is also built on an Arm processor, but runs on Windows
Rumors have long attributed to Xiaomi the release of a laptop on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 single-chip platform and with Windows OS. Today this model is presented officially. True, Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is not a laptop, but still a tablet – an analogue of the Microsoft Surface tablet.
Sales of the tablet in Europe will start today, June 21. The cost is 700 euros, and complete with a cover in which the keyboard is integrated – 800 euros. Those who order the new product between June 21 and 30 will receive the Redmi Buds 3 Pro wireless headphones as a bonus.
As already mentioned, The Xiaomi Book S 12.4 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 single-chip platform. In fact, it is a renamed Snapdragon 855, so despite many differences, Xiaomi Book S 12.4 and Xiaomi Pad 5 are still “brothers” . The amount of RAM was 8 GB, built-in flash memory – 256 GB (there is a slot for microSD cards, media up to 512 GB are supported). The device received a 38.08 Wh battery with support for 65 W fast charging.
As the name suggests, the tablet has a 12.4-inch screen. The IPS matrix is characterized by a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a peak brightness of 500 cd / sq.m and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The screen is protected by tempered glass Gorilla Glass 5.
The front camera of the device is 5-megapixel, the main one is with a sensor with a resolution of 13 megapixels. The tablet runs Windows 11 out of the box. The list of specifications also includes a USB-C port, Wi-Fi 802.11ac adapters and Bluetooth 5.1.
Xiaomi also today introduced the Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooter, the Smart Band 7 fitness bracelet and Mi TV A2 TVs in Europe.

The Huawei Kirin 9000s platform is truly unique. It has a 12-core processor, although it’s far from record-breaking performance.

The Kirin 9000s platform continues to bring surprises, although smartphones based on it have been on sale for some time.
After the latest Huawei flagships received HarmonyOS 4.0.0.116, Geekbench software began to define the characteristics of the new SoC differently. If earlier it was seen as an eight-core solution, now the number of processor cores is indicated as 12.
It’s worth remembering here that AnTuTu initially determined that the platform had exactly 12 cores, however, including two Cortex-A34.
Geekbench, well, indicates the types of cores, but talks about three clusters: four cores with a frequency of 1.53 GHz, two with a frequency of 2.62 GHz and six with a frequency of 2.15 GHz. This information is confirmed by screenshots from the mobile version of the benchmark.
We have not yet seen mobile SoCs with 12-core CPUs. At the same time, the performance of the Kirin 9000s, despite this configuration, is far from flagship by 2023 standards, that is, the cores themselves are not the most powerful.

The Core i9-14900KF is extremely slightly ahead of the Core i9-13900K and significantly behind the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The results of the new Intel CPU have appeared in PassMark

The Core i9-14900KF processor appeared in the PassMark benchmark database and immediately became the leader in the single-threaded performance rating.
Despite the fact that technically the Core i9-14900K/KF is a complete copy of the Core i9-13900KS, apparently there are some settings related to power limits. As a result, the new model is still a little faster than its predecessor, although this is unlikely to be noticeable in practice.
But in multi-threaded mode, which is much more important from a practical point of view, everything is more interesting: the new product differs vanishingly little in performance from the Core i9-13900K, and is even inferior to the Core i9-13900KS. And all of them are noticeably behind the Ryzen 9 7950X3D.
