Xiaomi announced MIUI 12 at the end of April, and since then it has been regularly releasing beta versions and stable builds of the new shell for its smartphones. Now it’s the turn of the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE and Redmi 9, which received the stable MIUI 12.
Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE in May 2018. It debuted with MIUI 9.5 based on Android Oreo and was subsequently updated to MIUI 10 and MIUI 11. The phone also received two Android updates: Android 9 Pie and Android 10. MIUI 12 is the last major update for this phone. It will only receive security updates as needed.
The MIUI 12 update for Mi 8 SE has version number V126.96.36.199.QEBCNXM. For Redmi 9, MIUI 12 firmware received version number V188.8.131.52.QJCCNXM. The firmware is currently available in China. Since the international versions of Xiaomi phones receive updates about a month after the Chinese release, the global versions of smartphones are expected to be updated in mid to late October.
MIUI 12 offers a vastly redesigned interface, takes animation to the next level, improves the dark theme, improves security, offers redesigned branded apps, and more. Support for super wallpapers is not provided for inexpensive smartphones.
