Xiaomi leads the way, Chinese companies took over 77% of India’s smartphone market last year
According to Financial Express, Chinese manufacturers including Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo shipped 77% of India’s total smartphone stock last year. A year earlier, Chinese suppliers accounted for 72% of smartphones.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, Xiaomi mobile phone shipments in India reached 12 million units, strengthening the company’s leading position with a market share of 27%. The second place is occupied by Samsung with a share of 21%. Vivo ranks third with shipments of 7.7 million units. Oppo climbed to fourth place, shipping 5.5 million smartphones. Fifth place went to Realme.
Market analyst Varan Kannan said that the political controversy between China and India had little or no impact on the sales dynamics of suppliers such as Xiaomi, Oppo and vivo in India in 2020. They only strengthened their position
