Xiaomi has announced the exact release date for the MIUI 12.5 branded shell at today’s Mi Fan Open Day event.

Stable MIUI 12.5 will be available for the first batch of smartphones on April 30, 2021. It should be clarified that the “stable” Chinese firmware MIUI 12.5 is already available for five models – Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11 and Mi 9S. However, these firmwares carry the status of “stable beta”.

This means that the update is available to a very limited number of users without being widely distributed. This is done so that the manufacturer can make sure that there are no serious problems in the firmware and fix them before releasing the firmware to all users of any model. On April 30, the wide distribution of the already finalized version of MIUI 12.5 will begin.

Global MIUI 12.5 will be available at a later date. Xiaomi plans to release stable MIUI 12.5 for the first international models during the second quarter of 2021, but no more precise timing has been announced yet.

Even Windows 11 has already been updated to Android 12.1. Microsoft has updated the subsystem Windows Subsystem for Android

One of the main innovations is the transition to Android 12.1 (12L). The current public version is based on Android 11. Initially, the update is only available through the Dev Channel. When it will become available to everyone is still unclear.

Microsoft notes that updating to Android 12.1 may result in some apps not running. She does not specify which ones, but it probably refers to some old programs.

The update also strengthens the integration of Android into Windows. For example, pop-up messages are first displayed as Windows notifications. The taskbar now shows if an Android app is accessing your microphone or location.

The company also states that Android apps should work better after waking the computer from standby. Instead of restarting, they should just resume where they left off.
