World’s first mini-LED monitor from Dell goes on sale for $ 5,000

As you know, Apple intends to use displays with mini-LED technology in some of its devices – the next stage in the development of LED-backlighting, which brings support for local dimming, provides high levels of contrast and brightness, wide color gamut and deep blacks. This technology actually offers the same benefits as OLED without the disadvantage of pixel burnout. This makes mini-LED a very attractive technology for professional use where color accuracy is important. So it is not surprising that mini-LEDs are the first to appear in professional-level monitors, for example, the technology is already supported by Dell UltraSharp 32 HDR PremierColor (UP3221Q).
Dell claims this is the first 2,000-zone mini-LED backlit monitor on the market. With 99.8% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and 93% Adobe RGB coverage, and support for VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, the UP3221Q is sure to delight any creative person.
The monitor comes factory calibrated with a built-in colorimeter from Calman. However, professionals who prefer X-Rite Colormunki or other external calibrators can also use them. For this, a USB-A port is provided on the front of the display. Another useful feature is the Picture-by-Picture mode, which allows you to connect two computers to a monitor and display content from both devices simultaneously. At the same time, it is possible to configure different color profiles for them.
Dell UP3221Q is equipped with a 31.5-inch panel with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. The connection interfaces include DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, Thunderbolt 3 (3 pcs.) And USB 3.2 (2 pcs.). The novelty will cost $ 5,000. Considering that reference-level monitors can cost up to tens of thousands of dollars, the new Dell model is not yet the highest price point. In comparison, Apple Pro Display XDR also starts at $ 5,000, but the Dell UP3221Q has one advantage – you don’t need to buy a stand separately for it. The company also offers a compact $ 55 soundbar that attaches to the monitor with magnets.
