Windows 11 hasn’t made new laptops and PCs any more attractive. Users don’t want to change their devices just because of the new OS

According to OnePulse, users don’t see Windows 11 as a compelling reason to switch their computers or laptops to new ones – with Microsoft’s new OS.

In the survey, which was attended by about 1000 people, only 14.6% expressed a desire to buy a new device with Windows 11 before the end of the year. This is in the USA, and in the UK there are even fewer such people – 12.4%.

Slightly more people are planning to buy a laptop, PC or tablet with Windows 11 in 2022 – 22.6%. But there are many more people who are not attracted by the novelties with Windows 11: about 42% of respondents said that they plan to continue using their current devices, and will switch to Windows 11 somehow later.

Despite the fact that Windows 11 made a lot of noise, and indeed many received it with enthusiasm, the survey shows that this OS is unlikely to spur demand for new devices. Rather, users will be switching to newer PCs and laptops for more compelling reasons. For example, due to the higher performance and functionality of Intel Alder Lake and AMD Ryzen 7000 processors.

The source found three laptops on the PC21.fr site with 12th generation Intel Core processors (Alder Lake). In the configuration of one of them, the mobile video card GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is indicated. This Acer Nitro AN515-58 gaming laptop is built with a 14-core Intel Core i7-12700H processor and 8GB of DDR4-3200 memory. The display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels supports refresh rates up to 165 Hz.

In addition, the website of the French store confirms plans to release Acer Nitro 5 laptops (AN517-55 and AN515-58) powered by Core i5-12500H processor with mobile RTX 3050 Ti graphics card. In fact, this is the first time any retailer has mentioned such a GPU. Both laptops are expected to cost less than € 1,300 (inclusive of VAT), which is unfortunately higher than the starting price of € 999 for the latest generation of RTX 3060 gaming laptops.

Specifications for the RTX 3070 Ti are still unknown. The card is expected to have a stripped-down GA104 GPU with fewer cores than the RTX 3080 (6144) and more than the RTX 3070 (5120). The GDDR6 memory will be 8 GB and the bus width will be 256 bits.

As for the Core i5-12500H processor, it is rumored to have 12 cores and can execute 16 threads, which implies 4 high-performance cores and 8 energy-efficient cores. Clock rates are not yet known.

The release of these new products is expected in January, after CES 2022.
