Windows 11 gains popularity on Steam, but most prefer Windows 10
The latest data from the Steam service shows that the popularity of Windows 11 is growing among gamers. April statistics confirm that Windows 11 added 2.06% and now holds almost 19% of the market, while other versions of Windows have lost some of their positions.
Windows maintains its dominant position on Steam with a market share of 96.31%. Windows 10 64-bit remains the most popular choice among gamers at 73.55%. Windows 7 64-bit comes in third with a score of 2.93%.
macOS and Linux are preferred by few Steam users. Apple’s desktop operating system accounts for just 2.55% of users, while Linux is currently preferred by 1.14% of gamers.
As we reported, the latest optional Microsoft Windows 11 update 22000.652 (KB5012643) has caused a number of issues. Users write about screen flickering in safe mode, problems with File Explorer, and more. Microsoft recommends removing it and is already working on a fix.

Sales of Xbox and Microsoft games sank. The company reported for the next financial quarter

Microsoft has published a report on the results of the second quarter of fiscal year 2023.
The company’s revenue rose 2% to $52.7 billion, while net income fell 12% to $16.4 billion.
This is far from Microsoft’s best quarter. These results are due to several reasons. First, there is a decline in revenue from manufacturers of laptops with Windows and PC sales in the market as a whole. Secondly, sales of Microsoft devices sank by a considerable 39%.
Also not the best way to feel in the last quarter and the gaming division of the company. In general, the Xbox division was marked by a decrease in revenue. Game sales fell by 13%, hardware sales fell by the same amount, that is, primarily consoles, and revenue from services and services decreased by 12%.
At the same time, Microsoft notes the further growth of the Game Pass service, but, as always, does not name the number of users and revenue.

TikTok was connected to the game browser Opera GX

Opera Software has announced a fresh update for the branded game browser Opera GX. The popular short video service TikTok has been integrated into the sidebar of the browser.
As planned by the developers, this will simplify the search for content. The company explained:
We know that the majority of TikTok users watch gaming content every day, so now you can enjoy content from all your favorite creators and communities right on the big screen.
Opera GX gives you direct access to TikTok: you can discover new creators, create and share your own memes, and more.
New Opera GX users will have immediate access to TikTok in the sidebar. Existing Opera GX users will have to activate the feature in the sidebar settings under Messengers.

Is Intel preparing a new Arc graphics card for budget gamers? Model with 16 Xe cores lit up on the Web

Intel may release another Arc graphics card in the near future.
The unnamed model showed up in CompuBench. It is known that this model has 256 computing units, that is, 16 Xe cores. We have not seen such a configuration among desktop adapters before. Recall that the Arc A580 model, which we were told about back in the summer and which has not yet been released, has 24 Xe cores.
At the same time, Intel has a mobile Arc A550M with 16 Xe cores, which means that the company may be preparing a desktop version of this model. Benchmark says that the unnamed model is 42% slower than the top-end Arc A770. If the difference is about the same in games, then this is about the level between the GTX 1650 Super and the GTX 1660 Super.
