Windows 10 will still solve the annoying problem with default browsers

Published

One of the problems of Windows 10 was and remains the choice of the default browser. To change Edge to Chrome, you have to dig into the system settings, although this was not required in previous versions of the OS. But now the situation is expected to change for the better.

Windows 10 will still solve the annoying problem with default browsers

In the Windows 10 22H2 test version, early testers discovered the ability to quickly switch the default browser. As in Windows 7, now you need to press only one button, and in the system settings the corresponding item will change automatically.

However, this does not work in Windows 11 yet. When you try to switch the browser like this, the system redirects the user to the “Default” section, where the browser will have to be selected manually.

Note that Firefox and Opera already support one-click standard browser assignment. In Chrome, this feature will appear in the fall of this year. The update will be released in September when Windows 10 22H2 is released. At this point, it’s unclear if Microsoft plans to “fix” Windows 11 in a similar way.

Earlier it was reported that Office 2021 began showing ads for Microsoft 365.

Dont need Dynamic Island Popular apps are in no hurry

The iPhone 14 Pro, which received the Dynamic Island interactive area in the front camera area, was introduced more than two weeks ago and released at the end of last week, but so far third-party developers are in no hurry to use Dynamic Island.

It was expected that Dynamic Island would initially only work with Apple applications, and developers would start releasing updates to their applications to adapt them to Dynamic Island.

Even before the launch, there was a lot of discussion about the fact that hugely popular apps in China, including WeChat and Tencent Video, are not optimized for use with Dynamic Island. WeChat notification pop-ups do not appear in the Dynamic Island interactive area, but simply under this notch, which does not respond to the application in any way.

WeChat update 8.0.29 for iOS was released yesterday, which fixed some compatibility issues on iPhone 14 series smartphones. However, there was no adaptation to Dynamic Island. Messages continue to appear under the notch. Other apps in China have also been updated but not supported.

Mydrivers writes that Apple has not yet opened the Dynamic Island Application Programming Interface (API) to third-party developers. For the first time this became known a few days ago.

It is worth adding that after the release of almost every new generation of iPhone, we are seeing a similar situation. At first, many shout “everything is gone”, “no innovations”, “a lot of bugs”, but in the end the problems are quickly resolved, and there are more than 100 million owners of new Apple smartphones in the world.

The largest American form of Reddit is full of resentment. “Personally, I just have crazy freezes in games. Removed the update – it became much better”, wrote one Reddit user.

Another commenter noticed significant FPS drops immediately after the update. According to him, it became impossible to play, while he has a fairly powerful hardware, and before the update of the operating system, there were no problems with games.

A third forum member notes that the same problems were observed in the Windows 22H2 beta version three months ago. The user thought that everything would be fixed in the final version of the update, but this did not happen. “Thank you for wasting another hour of my time“, wrote a disgruntled Reddit user, referring to Microsoft. By the way, he noted that after installing Windows 22H2, even scrolling the page in the browser turns out to be “twitchy”.

It is possible that soon the company will update the GeForce driver specifically taking into account the problems identified in Windows 22H2.

For now, everyone has the same recommendation. do not install the update, and if it is already installed roll back.
