Windows 10 finally says goodbye to Flash

Microsoft continues to phase out Flash Player from all versions of its Windows 10 operating system.

In February, the company released a separate optional update that removes Flash Player from the system, but for some users it was not installed optionally at all, but automatically. But for many users, Flash Player is still present on the system.

On April 27, Microsoft changed its original announcement for the Adobe Flash Player. It is now reported that the “Flash Player Removal Update” will be part of Windows 10’s General Optional Cumulative Updates in June. If the user misses these optional system updates, then “Flash Player Removal” will overtake him as part of the mandatory traditional monthly “Patch Tuesday” update for the Windows 10 operating system in July.

In addition, Flash Player was not included in the next major OS update – Windows 10 21H1 or May 2021 Update. The release has not yet taken place, but is expected in the coming weeks. If the user installs Windows 10 version 21H1 on their PC, then Flash Player will automatically stop working.

As a reminder, Flash Player has been part of the Windows system for over ten years. Adobe recognized the technology as obsolete back in 2017 and announced its decision to end support for Flash Player in December 2020. On January 12, 2021, Adobe began blocking Flash content from playing in Flash Player so that users can no longer access it.
