Will there be fewer leaks about new iPhones? Apple Tightens Safety Standards at Manufacturing Facilities

Apple is doubling the security of its supply chain to prevent future product leaks, the source said.

For example, Apple now requires manufacturers to check all employees for criminal records. Also, the Cupertino giant demanded an increase in the number of surveillance cameras at the facilities where its products are produced. At the moment, this applies to the factories Foxconn and Pegatron.

At the same time, Apple has forbidden its partners to collect biometric data from employees of Apple itself, but companies can do this with respect to their own employees.

Another innovation is that some of the components will be tracked as they travel through the factory. If such a part does not arrive at its destination on time, an alarm should go off. In addition, guards at factory checkpoints are required to keep detailed movement logs of workers transporting critical parts, and factory visitors are now required to show government IDs.

Also, video surveillance cameras must now record all four sides of vehicles carrying parts, and video recordings demonstrating the destruction of prototypes must be kept for at least 180 days.

It is difficult to say how much this will work with respect to leaks, but you can recall that the company had already tightened security measures earlier, but detailed data on the new iPhones still hit the Web a few months before the announcement.
