Will the Internet never be the same again? Microsoft introduced a new search service Bing based on artificial intelligence
Google today introduced the Bard service as a response to ChatGPT, and Microsoft announced an update to the Bing search engine with the implemented GPT language model.
Microsoft is calling it the all-new AI-powered Bing search engine, which should provide improved search, more complete answers, a new chat interface, and the ability to create content.
Artificial intelligence will revolutionize every category of software, starting with the biggest category, search. Today we’re launching Bing and Edge powered by co-pilot and AI chat to help people get more out of search and the web
Regarding the new Bing search and the new Edge browser, Microsoft itself highlights a number of key features.
- Best search. The new Bing provides an improved version of the familiar search, providing more relevant results for simple things like sports scores, stocks and weather, as well as a new sidebar that shows more complete answers if you need them.
- Complete answers. Bing scours results from all over the web to find and summarize the answer you’re looking for. For example, you can get detailed instructions on how to substitute eggs for another ingredient in a cake you’re baking right now, without having to look through multiple results.
- New chat experience. For more advanced searches, such as planning a detailed itinerary for a trip or researching which TV to buy, the new Bing offers a new interactive chat. With chat, you can refine your search until you get the complete answer you’re looking for, asking for more details, clarity, and ideas – with links available so you can act on your decisions immediately.
- Creative spark. There are times when you need more than an answer – you need inspiration. The new Bing can generate content to help you. It can help you write an email, create a five-day itinerary for your dream vacation to Hawaii with links to book your trip and accommodation, prepare for an interview, or create questions for a quiz. The new Bing also cites all of its sources, so you can see links to the web content it links to.
- New Microsoft Edge interface. We’ve updated the Edge browser with new AI capabilities and a new look and feel, and added two new features: Chat and Messaging. With Edge’s sidebar, you can request a summary of a long financial statement to get the key takeaways, then use the chat feature to request a comparison with a competitor’s financials and automatically place it in a spreadsheet. You can also ask Edge to help you compose content, such as a LinkedIn post, by giving it a few tips to get you started. After that, you can ask him to help you update the tone, format, and length of the post. Edge can understand the web page you are on and adapt accordingly.
Bing is not based on the same language model that ChatGPT is based on, but on a new generation model. Maybe it’s GPT-4, but the press release doesn’t say that directly. The company also notes that it has created Microsoft Prometheus, its own method of working with the OpenAI language model, which allows you to use the latter as efficiently as possible.
The new Bing is available today, but initially as a limited desktop preview.

Google has launched a waiting list for access to the Bard chatbot, but so far only in two countries

Google has announced that it is opening up access to its AI-powered chatbot Bard. For now, it will be a limited edition that will be available in the UK and US. Residents of these countries can access the site bard.google.com and add yourself to the waiting list.
The neural network is based on the LaMDA language model, and early tests showed that the system needs to be improved. However, the company is still ready to launch full access to the chatbot.
According to the corporation, Bard works in much the same way as other chatbots. You can formulate requests to it yourself or use hints. However, there are also differences. While the Microsoft Bing chatbot supports citations, Bard doesn’t have source citations to check the accuracy of the answer. Instead, you can see other chatbot response options.
For now, Bard looks like something separate from the Google search engine, but this may change in the future.

“This is probably the most beautiful mobile phone in history.” The creators praise the design of Meizu 20 Pro, which is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S23 and iPhone 14 Pro

Meizu has published the official teaser with the technical parameters of its new flagship Meizu 20 Pro. Right at the very beginning of the indiscreet document, it says: “maybe this is the most beautiful mobile phone in history” …
Everything would be fine, but at the moment the device looks like a collection of quotes: the main camera is designed in the spirit of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and the flat side frame is exactly like the current iPhone. What about the front panel? It looks like almost any other smartphone with a flat screen and an embedded camera.
Among the advantages of the Meizu 20 Pro, the creators name an ideal 50/50 weight distribution (that is, the mass is distributed evenly throughout the phone), a thin screen frame (width is 1.57 mm), a 5000 mAh battery with support for 80 W wired charging and 50W wireless. The thickness of the smartphone is also indicated – it is 7.8 mm.
The Meizu 20 Pro was previously listed on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 single-chip system. There are also examples of photos taken by the main camera of the phone. The official premiere of the Meizu 20 flagships is scheduled for March 30.

Startups use GPT-4 to save on live programmers

Network publications reported that a number of startups began to use the GPT-4 language model from OpenAI to save on developers. AI is said to be capable of generating code.
For example, Landscape startup founder Joe Perkins said on Twitter that he wrote the code for five microservices using a neural network, it took him only 3 hours, and the code turned out to be at a good level. If he wrote everything by hand, he would have to spend several weeks and 5 thousand pounds sterling.
According to Vice, who spoke with Perkins, he studied computer science at school, but his knowledge was only enough to understand the code, and not to write it. So GPT-4 was the right solution. And although Perkins continues to collaborate with developers, the language model simplifies development, speeds it up, and saves money.
But the executive director of online education at the Georgia Institute of Technology David Joyner (David Joyner) said that language models are unlikely to replace programmers. They are more likely to become assistants and take on some of the work.
Thus, GPT-4 is sure to become a sought-after tool in the market soon, and developers will have to learn how to use it in order to be in demand.
