WiFi 7 already flies at speeds of 30 Gbps and has an arrival date

Although it seemed that the names of WiFi were going to be simplified, since WiFi 6 we have known the announcement of three new wireless connectivity standards: Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 6 Release 2, and Wi-Fi 7. With WiFi 6E we can use the 6 GHz frequency, while with WiFi 6 Release 2 we have improvements in MU-MIMO to better support the load when many users are connected, as well as reducing energy consumption. However, the big jump we are going to see with Wi-Fi 7.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard (802.11be) is not even finalized yet by the Wi-Fi Alliance, but there are already manufacturers who are thoroughly testing it. MediaTek has been the first of all that has managed to make the new standard work in a real environment. And the speeds it reaches are spectacular.

Up to 30 Gbps speed with WiFi 7

With WiFi 5, the maximum speed was 3.5 Gbps, while with WiFi 6 the speed went up to 9.6 Gbps. Now, WiFi 7 will allow us to reach spectacular speeds of up to 30Gbps. These figures cannot be reached with a single device, but can be reached in aggregate with several devices connected at the same time. MediaTek claims to have already reached 23 Gbps in the first real tests, but that number will increase soon.

However, there are quite a few improvements for devices that connect individually, as they will be able to achieve higher speeds thanks to the more efficient use of the standard and be able to use all available bands at the same time. MediaTek affirms that this standard will be key in the establishment of the 4K and 8K at home, which need a high bandwidth to be seen without jerks if we are watching content with a high bitrate.

MediaTek is already working with manufacturers, and will be among the first to have Wi-Fi 7 chip. Currently, the company equips its chips in laptops, routers, televisions, cameras, routers and a multitude of Internet of things devices.

Twice as wide channels and better QAM modulation

MediaTek highlights that WiFi 7 offers a multitude of advances with respect to the different iterations of WiFi 6. To begin with, we find improvements in QAM modulation (up to 4096-QAM) to more efficiently take advantage of andl available bandwidth. There are also functions like multi-link operation (MLO), where the same device can connect to several channels at the same time to transmit packets through the fastest and least congested route, also opening the door to simultaneous connections between different access points.

With WiFi 7 it will also be possible to use 320MHz channels, compared to 160 MHz of WiFi 6. The number of antennas that each router can use will be the same.

As the standard is not yet finalized, it is difficult to estimate when the first routers and devices compatible with WiFi 7 will arrive. However, MediaTek states that the first devices will be available for 2023, so in just one year we will be able to enjoy the best wireless standard. Thus, if you are thinking of renewing your network, it might be better to wait until 2023 if you want to have a home prepared for the future.

NASA postpones first manned flight of Boeings Starliner

NASA announced the postponement of the first test manned flight of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner. It will take place not in April, but in May, after the Axiom Mission 2. Reportedly, the team is now assessing the readiness of the ship and conducting final pre-flight checks.

NASA postpones first manned flight of Boeing's Starliner

The reason for the delay was the need for additional testing of the Starliner manual control system. It is needed in case of a software failure so that the ship does not lose control.

The first Starliner crew will include astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams. If everything goes according to plan, they will have to spend about two weeks on board the ISS. After the successful return of the ship, it will receive NASA certification for regular manned flights, such as SpaceX previously received with its Crew Dragon spacecraft.

Note that the development of Starliner has been going on since 2014, but so far the ship has not received permission for regular flights.

In China, an orgy of discounts on cars is raging. Discounts reach 5000-6000 dollars, and somewhere they can give a whole car

Almost all major market players offer discounts. The Chery Tiggo 8 Plus, for example, is on sale for around $4,500, bringing the base version to just $14,000. BYD machines are on sale with discounts up to $3,000.

The premium brand Zeekr lures otherwise: the 001 electric car is offered 22-inch wheels and a Z-Sport exterior and interior package, which would cost $5,100 in total. The Changan Deepal sub-brand offers both discounts and gifts at once, for a total of approximately $6,400.

But one of the Toyota dealers did the most impressive. When you buy the bZ4X electric crossover at full price, you get a budget Toyota Vios sedan as a gift, which in itself costs almost $11,000!

The situation with huge discounts began to take shape since the beginning of the year, when Tesla cut the prices of their cars very much. The source adds that most of the discounts do not apply to the newest gasoline models, but, as we can see, there are exceptions.
