What to expect from EMUI 11. New Always-on Display design, improved multi-window mode, and more

Huawei is preparing to debut a new proprietary EMUI shell soon. Meanwhile, the network is accumulating information about the innovations that await users of Huawei and Honor smartphones with the launch of EMUI 11.

It is already known that EMUI 11 is based on the Android 11 operating system, which has not yet been released for ordinary users, but there will be innovations beyond the standard set of Android 11 innovations.

A source from the Chinese social network Weibo revealed several such features of EMUI 11. First, the company will update the design of the Always-on Display (AOD). In the latest EMUI 10.1 update, there are new AOD themes with the ability to change the look of the clock depending on the time of day and three-dimensional display styles. In EMUI 11, the mode will be further developed.

The company will also improve the Multi-window mode (split screen with multiple windows), add functions for easily sharing content between devices and speed up the work.

A separate source noted that the interface will be improved compared to EMUI 10.x and EMUI 11 is easily adaptable to older devices.

The EMUI 11 presentation is due at Huawei’s HDC 2020 Developer Conference, which kicks off on September 10. EMUI 11 beta testing on Huawei P40 series smartphones is expected shortly thereafter, followed by Huawei Mate 40 smartphones with EMUI 11 pre-installed.
