What Google was silent about at the presentation of the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: the new flagships did not receive unlimited space in Google Photos

Google’s latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, won’t get unlimited storage on Google Photos. If you had heard about this year ago, but you would not have believed this news. The fact is that the Google Photos service until recently was free not only for Pixel owners, but also for users of other smartphones.

But since June 1 of this year, Google has made the decision to reduce the amount of free storage available to Google account holders to 15 GB. Previously taken photos will be saved, but if the volume exceeds 15 GB, users must pay a subscription for additional storage.

While Google hasn’t made any public announcements, this summer the search giant confirmed to various trusted sources like The Verge that Pixel owners are losing their free unlimited photo storage right like everyone else. With the release of the new Pixel 6, the company was completely silent about free storage in Google Photos, in fact, confirming this information.

In the US, the Google One plan (which lets you buy space that’s used by all of your Google platforms like Google Photos and Gmail) costs anywhere from $ 2 per month for 100GB to $ 150 for 30TB.

Google announced last year that it would take most users three years to fill their free 15GB of photos, according to an internal estimate.

GTA fans are angry. The donated classic parts turned out to be “unplayable” with modern versions of Windows

As it turned out, the classic games Grand Theft Auto III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas are “unplayable” due to the lack of updates that allow playback on modern equipment.

Recall, recognizing the failed launch and removing the remaster of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition from its platform, Rockstar promised to release updates to improve the performance and graphics of the collection. In addition, the classic versions of Grand Theft Auto were gifted to all players who purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PC. Buyers of console versions are not eligible for classic parts. This promotion will continue until July 1 of next year.

According to popular blogger Ben Turpin, free classic GTA games are “unplayable” on modern Windows. He wrote that these PC versions have not been updated since their initial releases in the early 2000s, and players cannot download mods to improve them due to software limitations.

Specifically, users are unable to install the Silent Patch and RE3 mods, which enhance GTA III and Vice City, add a rotating camera, support for Xbox controllers on PC, and reduce load times between game locations to zero.

It is currently unknown if the developers will update the legacy PC ports for the three original games in the future.

Microsoft’s proprietary browser, Edge, has begun to gradually poach users of Google Chrome, which has dominated the browser market for many years.

This is evidenced by the latest statistics from Statcounter. As of the end of November, the share of Microsoft Edge exceeded 4% for the first time in history. As a result, the browser secured its third place in popularity in the world, behind only Safari and Chrome.

Of course, the gap between Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome remains huge, and the latter won’t fall off the top spot anytime soon.

The AnTuTu benchmark team has published a ranking of mid-range Android smartphones for November 2021 for the international market. It differs markedly from the similar AnTuTu ranking in China.

According to AnTuTu experts, phones based on the Snapdragon 778G SoC continue to dominate the ranking of mid-range smartphones.

For the fourth month in a row, Realme GT Master continues to reign in first place, gaining 537,231 points in November. As noted by AnTuTu, Naoto Fukasawa’s suitcase-style design has made this smartphone very recognizable and one of the hottest on the mobile phone market this year.

The second place is also taken by the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite for the fourth month in a row with 524,464 points. But the Honor 50 burst into third place with 516 915 points, which was not previously represented in the international ranking. It’s funny that a new generation series, Honor 60, has already been presented in China.

Then in the ranking are Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G NE (505 274), Huawei Nova 9 (499 078), Galaxy A52s 5G (498 705), Galaxy M52 5G (490 762), Huawei Nova 7 (457 964), Oppo Reno6 5G (429 879), Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G (388 719).

Statistics collected from November 1 to November 30, 2021. The AnTuTu rankings use average, not the highest scores. For each smartphone, the results of at least 1000 tests were taken into account – models with fewer tests are not included in the rating.
