What games can you play on a $240 Windows portable console? Celeron 7305 and Pentium 8505 gaming tests have appeared
The other day was presented “the cheapest portable console with Windows that has ever been created.” This is what Ayn calls its Loki prefix.
It starts from just $240, but the problem is that for this money the user will receive a console based on the Intel Celeron 7305 CPU. And this is a processor with only one large core, four small ones, a GPU with 48 computing units and a frequency of only 1 GHz. For $280 a version with a Pentium 8505 is offered in the same configuration, but with a normal frequency of 4.4 GHz.
Can such processors do anything at least in some modern games? One YouTube writer decided to check it out. Several videos have already appeared on his channel, and we will start with the Celeron 7305.
- Hades (720p) – 60 fps
- Hollow Knight (1080p) – 70 fps and up
- Tomb Raider (540p) – 25-40 fps
- Resident Evil 3 (540p) – 40-50 fps
- Pentium 8505:
- Hades (720p) – 80-90 fps
- Tomb Raider (720p) – 40-50 fps
- Resident Evil 3 (720p) – 35-50 fps
In all cases, apparently, the settings were set to the most minimal level. Thus, it is certainly possible to play on Loki, but on the Mini model based on Celeron 7305 it is definitely better to limit yourself to either very old games or modern ones, but Hollow Knight level.
It is also worth recalling that both versions will also be available with the AMD Mendocino APU, which should have a much faster GPU.
Separately, it is worth mentioning the prices. The fact is that initially the other day it was reported that the Loki Mini will cost $ 300, and the Loki Mini Pro will cost $ 350 or $ 400. But now the console has appeared on the manufacturer’s website, and it turned out that the prices are much lower – those indicated in the text earlier.

The best-selling portable console Steam Deck will become more affordable. Valve more than doubles production

The Steam Deck console will be available in large volumes soon.
Valve has published a message that it is increasing the production of the console, more than doubling it!
It is unclear whether this will be enough to meet demand, since the company initially accepted a lot of orders for the console, and now it is very false to buy it. But such a significant increase in production volumes should have a positive impact on the availability and prices from resellers.
The company also announced that it has just completed deliveries of set-top boxes that were booked in the second quarter, and will begin accepting pre-orders for the third on June 30th. However, delivery on the site is still indicated no earlier than October.

The first ultra-slim handheld Windows game console with an OLED screen. Ayaneo Air launched on Indiegogo

Ayaneo has entered Indiegogo with its Air handheld game console.
The company calls the novelty the first ultra-thin set-top box with Windows and an OLED screen. The dimensions here are 224 x 89.5 x 26.7 mm with a mass of 395 g. For comparison, the dimensions of the Steam Deck are 298 x 117 x 49 mm with a mass of 669 g, but the Nintendo Switch OLED has dimensions of 175 x 104 x 50.7 mm with a mass of 315 g.
True, there is also a version of Air Pro, the thickness of which is increased to 29.6 mm, and the weight is 450 g.
The novelty is available in many different configurations. The base version, which can be ordered for $500 through a crowdfunding campaign, is equipped with a Ryzen 5 5560U APU, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. There are versions with the same APU, but 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB SSD. There is also a modification based on the Ryzen 7 5825U with 32 GB of RAM and an SSD from 512 GB to 2 TB. The top console can be purchased for $1,000.
In any case, the performance of any version will be significantly lower than that of the Steam Deck, as well as consoles based on the Ryzen 6000U.
It is also important that retail prices will differ very little from the prices of the fundraising campaign.
The rest of the parameters include a 5.5-inch OLED screen with Full HD resolution, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, a battery with a capacity of 28 or 38 Wh (second for Air Pro versions), a fingerprint scanner (except for the most basic version).
The Indiegogo campaign has already raised around $255,000, nearly four times the amount the manufacturer is asking for.

The media told why there were so many errors in Cyberpunk 2077 – the game was simply poorly tested

After the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 at the end of 2020, it turned out that the game has a lot of bugs and flaws that have been fixed over time. Now there is information that the project was simply poorly tested before release.
It is alleged that CD Projekt RED hired the Romanian company Quantic Lab, which previously tested The Witcher 3, to test the game. However, experienced testers had left Quantic Lab by this time, although the company claimed otherwise. This is stated in a video on the YouTube channel Upper Echelon Gamers, which received a 72-page document with test reports, data from the personnel department and so on. This data was allegedly given to the author of the channel by an anonymous employee of Quantic Lab. Although no screenshots or documents are shown in the video.
The video claims the following:
- Quantic Lab lied about the size of the test team in order to keep the contract.
- Many team members were newbies who needed to be trained in parallel with testing.
- The Romanian company required a daily quota of bugs to be met, so any bugs were sent to the developers, not the most important ones. Because of this, really significant errors were often not detected in time.
It is also noted that as a result, CD Projekt RED changed the requirements for testing, now it was necessary to report only important errors, but time was lost.
At the same time, YouTube blogger LegacyKillaHD, who previously reviewed Cyberpunk 2077, asked about the situation of several developers from CD Projekt RED on condition of anonymity. According to them, they knew about the problems in the game, but there was not enough time to fix them.
Official comments from both companies have not yet been received.
