What do you think, Elon Musk? Software update for all Porsche Taycans sold increases electric vehicle range by 50 km and more

Published

Porsche has announced a software update for its Taycan electric four-door coupe that improves range, among other changes.

To install the update, owners are offered to contact the nearest dealership of the brand. The new firmware brings improved charging options and new settings for the infotainment system, while the range increases up to 50 km depending on the equipment.

Extended range is achieved by disabling the front electric motor while coasting, reducing battery strain and increasing mileage on a single charge. In addition, after installing the software, the electric vehicle can be charged at maximum efficiency over a wider range of ambient temperatures. The energy consumption indicator is now displayed in the center display, the navigation system has learned to filter charging stations, and the range of the ParkAssist function has been noticeably increased.

Volkswagen Transporter will be completely business-focused, serving the needs of commercial vehicle operators throughout Europe. Volkswagen says it aims to make the van “suitable for everyone.” The company will offer a variety of powertrain options, including all-electric, plug-in hybrid and diesel powertrains.

In addition, the automaker boasts that the Transporter variant line-up will be “huge” and will include panel vans in two lengths and heights, a double-cab flatbed truck, a Kombi and a Caravelle shuttle bus to carry a large number of passengers.

Volkswagen has not yet revealed the technical specifications of the seventh-generation Transporter, but it is known that it will be closely related to the Ford Transit, with which it shares underpinnings, as a result of an alliance between the two brands.

Volkswagen says pre-sales of the new van should begin before the end of 2023 in Germany.
