What do you think, Elon Musk? Software update for all Porsche Taycans sold increases electric vehicle range by 50 km and more
Porsche has announced a software update for its Taycan electric four-door coupe that improves range, among other changes.
To install the update, owners are offered to contact the nearest dealership of the brand. The new firmware brings improved charging options and new settings for the infotainment system, while the range increases up to 50 km depending on the equipment.
Extended range is achieved by disabling the front electric motor while coasting, reducing battery strain and increasing mileage on a single charge. In addition, after installing the software, the electric vehicle can be charged at maximum efficiency over a wider range of ambient temperatures. The energy consumption indicator is now displayed in the center display, the navigation system has learned to filter charging stations, and the range of the ParkAssist function has been noticeably increased.
This renewal campaign will allow all customers to benefit from the continued development of the Taycan. Since 2019, we have significantly streamlined our range in almost every way, adding new features and revising and modifying existing ones to further enhance our customer experience.

Jidu robots will be a generation ahead of Tesla

Baidu’s electric vehicle maker Jidu Auto said it will be one generation ahead of Tesla in terms of autonomous driving technology.
“Our understanding of smart vehicles is that being electric is the semi-final and being smart is the final,” Baidu chief executive Robin Li said yesterday.
Jidu plans to deliver 800,000 of its smart cars (called “robots”) by 2028, as well as launch its second model into mass production in 2024. In June, Jidu unveiled its first Robo-01 concept car, which has no door handles and can be fully controlled by voice control, with the model planned for mass production in 2023.
In addition to equipping the car with Baidu-based autonomous driving software technology, the Jidu “robots” will have two laser rangefinders (lidars) and 12 cameras. At the same time, Tesla does not use lidars.
Tech companies around the world are competing to develop smart cars following Tesla’s success in commercializing electric vehicles. We should see Xiaomi smart car next year.
