Weather storms are coming to Fortnite in its latest patch

Published

Something new awaits aficionados of Fortnite from today : the new update 19.01 introduces climate changes for the game island in the standard mode of the famous battle royale from Epic Games. Tornadoes and thunderstorms thus disrupt the sunny climate of the island battlefield, with several consequences on game tactics.

Just approach a tornado close enough to be blown away — and spin in tandem with the storm. The tornado thus allows a makeshift tactical repositioning by air … And that we reassure the players concerned: no fall damage is inflicted when a character is caught in the squalls of a tornado.

Besides the appearance of tornadoes, thunderstorms will also shake up playing habits. The formation of large black clouds will give rise to a major thunderstorm capable of bringing down lightning on the playing field. A penalty that can quickly turn into a significant bonus for those struck down, being granted a speed boost at the cost of part of their health. If you ever feel like picking up the thunder right in the head, you can increase your chances by jumping into a water point or by positioning yourself on the highest point under the dark clouds – and therefore do work on his SVT courses at the college, which prove to be very practical here.

Candle in the wind

Note that neither tornadoes nor thunderstorms will make appearances in the competitive game modes of Fortnite, undoubtedly to preserve its meta and not upset the tactics of professional players. Patch 19.01 also includes the return of the High Pistol, allowing fires to spread around.

To celebrate the arrival of these new climate changes, a “tornado week” is being organized within the game, until January 17th. Over the next seven days, players and gamers will have a better chance of witnessing a tornado appearing on the Game Island — a frequency that is expected to drop significantly once the event has passed.
