Wagyu marbled beef 3D printed in Japan

Scientists at Osaka University used stem cells isolated from Wagyu cows to 3D print alternative meat containing muscle, fat and blood vessels arranged to resemble regular steaks.

Wagyu can literally be translated as “Japanese cow”. This meat is known for its genetic predisposition to intense marbling and high unsaturated fat content. Marbling gives the beef a rich flavor and distinctive texture. However, the methods of raising cattle are often considered unsustainable today due to the large amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Currently available alternatives to “cultured meat” cannot replicate the intricate texture of real beef steaks.

The team started with two types of stem cells called bovine satellite cells and adipose-derived stem cells. Under the right laboratory conditions, these cells can be transformed into any type of cell required for the production of cultured meat. Individual fibers were produced from these cells using bioprinting. The fibers were then positioned in a three-dimensional manner according to the histological structure of real wagyu meat.

Using the histological structure of wagyu beef as a sample, we have developed a 3D printing method that allows the creation of complex structures such as muscle fibers, fat and blood vessels.

The developers clarify that after improving the technology, customers will be able to order cultured meat with the desired amount of fat, based on taste and health reasons.

The MagicBook V14 2021 features a 14.2-inch display with a 2520 x 1680 pixel resolution at 90Hz frame rate and 100% sRGB coverage. There is a fingerprint scanner built into the power key, an NFC adapter, a 5-megapixel webcam. The cooling subsystem is represented by two heat pipes and two fans. It is quite quiet – the noise level in normal operation is 22 dB.

Honor unveiled the new MagicBook 16 Pro gaming laptops in China today. The lineup is represented by two models that differ only in video cards: the base one uses the GeForce GTX 1650, and the top one received the GeForce RTX 3050.

Laptops are equipped with IPS screens with a diagonal of 16.1 inches with a frame rate of 144 Hz and full HD resolution. The screen covers 100% of the sRGB color space and covers 87.3% of the lid area. The amount of RAM is 16 GB, the amount of SSD is 512 GB.
