Vivo has released iQOO U3: another low-cost smartphone with 5G and a display of 90 Hz

On Monday, December 14th, the Chinese smartphone maker Vivo released a new device under the iQOO sub-brand. Dubbed the iQOO U3, it is a mid-range smartphone with 5G support, a high refresh rate widescreen display, a large battery and a 48MP main camera. But let’s talk about everything in order.

The iQOO U3 is housed in an 8.4 mm thick case and weighs 185.5 grams with all the stuffing. The front is a 6.58-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2408 × 1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20.07 by 9, a pixel density of 401ppi, a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz and support for HDR10. The screen occupies more than 90% of the total area of the front panel and has a small drop-shaped notch on top for an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The rear of the smartphone has a dual main camera. It consists of a 48-megapixel main sensor with f / 1.79 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor for creating bokeh effects or simply blurring the background in portrait photos. The camera has an electronic image stabilization system and supports night mode, panoramic shooting and video recording in 4K resolution.

As for the internal stuffing of the new Vivo smartphone, the focus here, of course, is the processor. This is the Dimensity 800U chipset from MediaTek, which has up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128 GB of internal UFS 2.2 memory, which is not expandable with microSD cards. For autonomous operation of the iQOO U3, a rechargeable battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh is responsible. It has 18W fast charging function via USB Type-C connector. Also worth mentioning is the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones, a slot for two SIM cards, a liquid cooling system, a fingerprint scanner (on the side in a button) and face recognition technology. In addition to 5G wireless communications, there is support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1 and GPS.

iQOO U3 is already available for order in China, and its sales in the domestic market will start on December 17. It is offered in two versions – with 6/128 GB of memory for 1498 yuan or $ 229 and with 8/128 GB of memory for 1698 yuan or 259 dollars.
