Video cards are getting cheaper. EBay prices decline amid rising payback periods for 3D cards from miners

It looks like video cards are starting to get cheaper. At least on eBay. Bitcoin has been trading in the range from $ 30,000 to $ 42,000 for about a month, having fallen there from the mark of almost $ 65,000, and after it, all other cryptocurrencies fell accordingly.

Thus, now the payback period for video cards, through which Ethereum and a number of other cryptocurrencies are mined, has grown significantly, which has begun to be reflected in prices.

Tom’s Hardware, which maintains its own statistics on prices for video cards on eBay, claims that for the first time since February 2021, the market has seen a downward trend in prices for almost all 3D cards. The exception is the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which has risen in price by 1.3% since May. Generally speaking, the changes can be seen in the table below.

As you can see, in some cases, prices fell by more than 10%. Of course, with huge markups, this still does not give us adequate prices, but still, the decline is welcome.

The source also notes a significant drop in the number of video cards sold over the past month. For example, sales of the RTX 3090 dropped 35%, while Radeon adapters saw a 27% drop on average. While the RTX 3060 Ti and RX 6800 XT showed growth of 1% and 9%, respectively. What is the reason for the decline in sales is still unclear. Plus, these are only eBay sales.
