Users demand from Xiaomi to improve MIUI 12.5

Users in the official Mi Community have published a petition demanding that Xiaomi improve the memory management of smartphones.

Users complain that in the latest versions of the proprietary MIUI shell, memory management has become “too aggressive”.

For example, one of the dissatisfied points out that his Xiaomi Mi 8 smartphone with 6 GB of RAM and installed MIUI 12 was unable to “keep” in memory without closing even 4 applications: in some cases, applications start to close after 13 seconds. He also claims that the newest Xiaomi Mi 11 has a similar problem.

As a result of the discussion of similar problems on smartphones with MIUI 12, a petition was published. In it, users vote for improvements in memory management in the upcoming release of MIUI 12.5.

During the official presentation of the global MIUI 12.5, among the main advantages for international users, the manufacturer noted high optimization – CPU usage decreased in the shell by 22%, and power consumption by 15%).

Users in China have a special love for Xiaomi Mi 6: many still believe that the company has not yet released a flagship that can replace this model. As a result, users still have a fairly large number of Mi 6s in their hands, which means that there are enough devices for experiments. The pictures below show the result of such an experiment.

One of the users managed to install Windows 11 on ARM on Mi 6. Of course, the system does not work super fast (the OS loads for more than a minute, some menus inside the OS itself take several seconds to load), but in general, Windows 11 on Mi 6 is quite efficient.
