Samsung has unveiled the next-generation Exynos Modem 5300 5G modem. Usually, the South Korean firm’s latest cellular modems will debut inside the latest Exynos single-chip systems, but since the company did not release its flagship Exynos processor in 2023, the Exynos Modem 5300 is expected to be used in the Google Tensor SoC the next generation, which should appear in the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

The Exynos Modem 5300 5G is manufactured by Samsung Foundry using a 4nm EUV process, which is a significant improvement over the Exynos Modem 5123’s 7nm process. This makes the Exynos Modem 5300 much more power efficient than previous generation modems.

This new telecom chip delivers peak download speeds of up to 10Gbps at ultra-low latency with support for FR1, FR2 and EN-DC (E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity) technologies. Declared a maximum data transfer rate of up to 3.87 Gb / s. The modem supports fifth generation cellular networks in the ranges up to 6 GHz (Sub-6GHz) and millimeter wave (mmWave) in SA and NSA modes.

It is compatible with the 3GPP 5G NR Release 16 standard, which aims to make 5G networks much faster and more efficient. In LTE mode, the Exynos Modem 5300 supports peak download speeds up to 3Gbps and peak upload speeds up to 422Mbps. It can be connected to the smartphone’s chipset via a PCIe connection.

On paper, the Exynos Modem 5300, developed by Samsung’s System LSI division, is similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X70 modem, which is also capable of up to 10 Gb/s download speeds and up to 3.5 Gb/s data transfer speeds on compatible 5G networks. However, Samsung has not revealed whether its new 5G modem supports Dual-SIM Dual-Active.

Typically, a company starts with several countries (China is apparently one of them), and then gradually expands its geography and user coverage.

Let us remind you that it became known earlier that smartphones of the Galaxy S23 line will receive all the AI functions (Galaxy AI) available for smartphones of the Galaxy S24 series.
