The Surrogat-V underwater drone, codenamed Vedomoy, presented at the Army 2022 forum, can imitate a submarine, distract the enemy, and also take fire on itself.

An important function of the “Surrogate” is the imitation of a covered boat. By depicting its hydroacoustic “portrait” with the help of onboard means, the drone will be able to lead the enemy on a false trail or cause fire on itself. It is very difficult to get into it because of its small size and good maneuverability.

Like the first Surrogate, the drone can imitate a submarine in exercises, testing new detection systems and anti-submarine weapons. The drone is equipped with sonar countermeasures, which allows you to play very complex tactical episodes.

The “Surrogate” drone was presented along with a mock-up of the prospective strategic nuclear submarine “Arktur”. In the aft part of the submarine there are two lockable compartments intended for Surrogates. Drones can also act as “sentinels”, patrolling the waters around the submarine on combat duty.

The developers also drew the attention of journalists to the camouflage of blue triangles on the top of the drone, which should reduce the visibility of the device for anti-submarine aircraft and drones.

Recall that the displacement of the drone is 40 tons, and the range reaches 1500 km.

In Europe, a new JFS-M missile is being developed, which will be capable of hitting targets at a distance of 500 km. The missile can be launched using the M270 and HIMARS systems.
