TrendForce Analysts Called Factor That Will Limit Future Growth of AMOLED Panel Market

Published

on

According to the latest research by TrendForce, due to the wider adoption of AMOLED panels by major smartphone brands including Apple and Samsung, the penetration rate of AMOLED panels in the smartphone market is expected to reach 39.8% in 2021 and 45% in 2022. As AMOLED panels proliferate, there is a growing demand for control ICs for them. However, there is currently not enough manufacturing capacity to ramp up production, and semiconductor manufacturers have yet to implement plans to expand suitable manufacturing capacity. In view of this, the growth in shipments of AMOLED panels in the next year may be limited.

Analysts point out that AMOLED driver chips are larger than many other chips, resulting in fewer chips per wafer, so more wafers are required. The vast majority of AMOLED driver ICs are currently manufactured at 40nm and 28nm. In fact, only Samsung, UMC and GlobalFoundries can mass-produce such microcircuits. SMIC, HLMC and Nexchip are trying to join them when they can start mass production is unclear.

Aside from the lack of manufacturing capacity, the AMOLED driver problem is exacerbated by the fact that each manufacturer’s AMOLED panels have unique characteristics. The need to harmonize specifications, test and make changes, and include different sets of IP cores in the microcircuit, increases development time and does not allow creating universal models.

The Briton was jailed for spying on his ex To

In the UK, there was a curious case – 41-year-old Christopher Paul Trotman used an AirTag tag from Apple to track his ex-girlfriend. He glued the device to the rear bumper of the car and for some time tracked the location of the vehicle. And then he wrote the girl a message and revealed the fact of surveillance of her. As a result, he was detained, he is now in prison awaiting trial. Most likely, after the hearings, he will be released, but he will be banned from approaching the former at the level of a court decision.

The Briton was jailed for spying on his ex. To do this, he used the AirTag tag.

As noted, the victim uses an iPhone, and she received a notification that an unknown AirTag was located next to her, but the girl ignored the information because she simply did not know about such a possibility in iOS.

Note that the latest improvements to AirTag include anti-stalking features. First, iPhone users will be automatically alerted if an unknown AirTag moves near them (which it did). Secondly, the tag will make a sound if it is far from the owner for a long time.

Initially, the tags only worked with the iPhone, but later the company released Android, which allows their phone owners to search for AirTag.

We previously reported on how to properly use the AirTag to get the most out of it.

Musk posted a meme this week implying that Starship’s static fire tests are too sexy and that watching them is keeping him from “living a normal, productive life.”

According to the forecast, the first orbital test launch of Starship can take place both in a month and within the next year. It all depends on the success of bench tests.
