Transcend has unveiled the MTE240S mid-range solid state drive in the M.2-2280 form factor and equipped with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface.

The drive is available in 500GB and 1TB sizes. It uses an unnamed four-channel controller. The 500GB variant offers sequential read speeds of up to 3800 MB / s and sequential write speeds of up to 2800 MB / s. 4K block random access performance reaches 190,000 read IOPS and 540,000 write IOPS. The 1 TB variant claims a maximum sequential read speed of 3800 MB / s and a maximum sequential write speed of 3200 MB / s, performance up to 370,000 IOPS in read mode and up to 560,000 IOPS in write mode. In terms of resource, a 500 GB drive is rated for writing during the warranty life of 850 TB, and a 1 TB drive is designed for 1700 TB. The warranty period is five years.

The drives are equipped with graphene-coated copper heatsinks. The source does not provide prices.

CPU performance in this mode can increase by 15%, although this will depend on the tasks. Whether the Core i9-13900KS, which was previously assigned a frequency of up to 6 GHz, will be released under such conditions is now unclear.
