Since 2009, Toyota has used a blue halo on its T badge on vehicles equipped with hybrid powertrains. The new Camry doesn’t have that badge, despite being a pure hybrid.
Instead of a blue accent on the badge, the Toyota Camry gets a blue dot on the trunk next to the letters HEV. Toyota confirmed that the new circle is intended to symbolize “the happiness of people living on earth and the desire to pass it on to the next generation.”
The new blue circle will replace the previous prominent badge on new Toyota hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles, a company representative who spoke with Motor Trend confirmed. Those changes start with models like the Camry, Crown and the automaker’s best-known hybrid, the Prius.
Other electrified cars like the RAV4, Venza and Corolla have retained the blue badges, but only because they haven’t been updated yet. Soon a blue dot will also appear on them.
It’s all part of the automaker’s “Beyond Zero” marketing campaign, which involves using electrified vehicles to “go beyond carbon neutrality with our products” and “have a positive impact on our planet and society.”
“It is always copied, but never surpassed.” The brainchild of BYD and Mercedes-Benz and the best-selling car in the class in China – Denza D9 – will be presented in a new body on March 6
The official announcement of the new Denza D9 BYD 2024 model year car will take place on March 6, while the manufacturer stated during the presentation announcement that “it is always copied, but cannot be surpassed.”
Denza D9 goes on sale in October 2022. Last January, it won the luxury MPV category with a price tag of over $42,000. Officials said that cleared the way for the full 2023 title to be won. Last October, it became the fastest luxury minivan to reach 100,000 units.
At the beginning of the year, BYD announced that the Denza D9 model became the best-selling minivan in the Chinese market across all price categories, with cumulative sales of 119,182 units from January to December 2023. Officials also said the Denza D9 “single-handedly reversed the downward trend in the minivan market since 2017.”
Dimensions BYD Denza D9 – 5250 x 1960 x 1920 mm, wheelbase – 3100 mm. The equipment includes seven screens, separate seats on the second row with electrical adjustments, ventilation, heating and massage, 50-watt wireless charging for a smartphone. Buyers have access to pure electric and hybrid versions with a power reserve of 600+ and 1000+ km, respectively.
The updated Hyundai Staria 2024 was presented. It received a 245-horsepower engine with a consumption of only 7.7 l/100 km
According to Carscoops, Hyundai has launched the Hyundai Staria 2024 minivan on the home market with a new power plant – a hybrid. It has a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine with 180 hp. combined with an electric motor with a power of 73 hp, as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission. The total is 245 hp. and 367 Nm of torque. And in terms of the last parameter, the hybrid is superior to the version with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. And naturally, the hybrid is economical: average consumption is only 7.7 l/100 km, which is quite a bit for a car with a length of 5255 mm and a weight of 2220 kg.
Externally, the hybrid is no different from the versions with internal combustion engines. This engine is installed on both cargo-passenger versions of Staria (LCV, for 3 or 5 people) and passenger versions (Tourer, for 9 or 11 seats). The car is equipped with a digital instrument panel, a media system with a 10.25-inch screen, climate control, ventilated and heated seats, and parking sensors.
The cost of the hybrid Hyundai Staria 2024 is $25,711 (LCV version) or $27,364 (Tourer). Over time, a car with a new power plant will appear in foreign markets outside of South Korea.
Volvo cars have learned to warn the driver about accidents ahead
Volvo has launched what it claims is the industry’s first real-time accident warning technology, Accident Ahead Alert. Data from traffic control centers and information from other compatible Volvo vehicles will be used to alert drivers. The feature will first appear in select Volvo models in Europe, starting in Denmark. Accident Ahead Alert technology will be able to warn the driver of a traffic accident ahead at a distance of up to several hundred meters.
You are driving along a winding country road, visibility is poor. Suddenly your Volvo warns you that there is an accident ahead. As you calmly slow down and take the next corner, you see a wrecked car in your lane. Thanks to the warning, you were prepared and able to react in time.
Volvo press service
For now, the real-time Accident Ahead Alert feature is available in Denmark on all Volvo 90, 60 and 40 series models from 2016 onwards. It will soon appear on the same Volvo car models in other European markets.
