While the presidential elections and related political processes were taking place in the United States in almost all states, few from the government of the country again returned to the scandalous issue of the need to ban the operation of the TikTok application on the territory of the country – and now the US government has returned to considering this issue, according to at least in preliminary form. Today it became known that the US Chamber of Commerce presented a new preliminary draft, according to which this issue is given more time for consideration, and which, in fact, obliges ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, to revise its terms.
However, at this point in time, the issue of the legal status of the distribution and operation of the TikTok application in the United States is the lowest priority for the vast majority of government elements in the country, since unrest and post-electoral problems of a legal nature have not yet been finally settled. However, this allows the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns the rights to the TikTok app, to have more time to work out a new set of conditions and offers for the American side in order to formalize any compromise.
Since the current status of the TikTok application in the country remains quite legal, but at the same time hangs by a thread of delegation, it becomes obvious that quite difficult times are coming for ByteDance – and the US Chamber of Commerce should also develop a more or less competent and comprehensive bill regarding the continuation of the application , or its final ban in the country.
It can be assumed that in a relatively short time, the US Chamber of Commerce will indeed present the final version of the bill, which will outline all the most important details regarding the work with ByteDance and its TikTok application, but until then, it remains to be hoped that both parties can come to any normal work compromise. Because otherwise, the US government runs the risk of catching up with massive user ire, as TikTok is one of the most popular apps in the country.
