This is why Xiaomi is very interested in Ultra Wide Band technology
Recently, Xiaomi has announced its intention to exploit the technology Ultra Wide Band (UWB). This makes it possible to spatially locate and control different kinds of compatible smart devices; reason why the Chinese Apple is very interested in it.
Ultra Wide Band technology originated in the 1990s. Yet it wasn’t until 2020 that it began to be part of our daily lives. It is now integrated into our smartphones, smart homes, etc. In fact, Xiaomi seems to want to invest more in this protocol. In any case, this is what the fact that it bought shares in the company Ultraception, which specializes in UWB, suggests.

UWB is dedicated to short range communication. It is a data transmission technology using ultra wide band. The goal ? Enable connected objects to transmit information faster and more stably.
For Xiaomi, what could UWB technology be used for?
Compared to infrared technology and Bluetooth, UWB consumes less power. In addition, thanks to the spatial signature, it can offer very precise positioning of connected objects that are nearby.
In fact, Xiaomi plans to further integrate UWB into its products. This could be used to control different kinds of smart home devices. According to the calculations and tests carried out by the manufacturer, it would be possible to know the position of an object to the nearest centimeter thanks to the UWB. With this standard, Xiaomi smartphone users could thus detect and control other devices precisely via their screens.
For now, Xiaomi still only offers this option on the Mix 4. But with this acquisition of Ultraception, we can expect the technology to become a standard for future products from the firm.
Other mobile giants are also interested in the Ultra Wide Band standard
Xiaomi isn’t the only brand taking an interest in UWB. As an example, Samsung has already incorporated the same technology in two of its smartphones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. For its part, Apple has already added it to its iPhone 11 and plans to integrate it into the iPhone 12.
Indeed, Xiaomi has only been present in the European market since 2018. However, it quickly found its place there, becoming one of the most well-known brands in Europe and around the world. Its success is based on its commercial policy which relies on the supply of products at the best quality/price ratio.
This allowed it to dethrone the American giant Apple in terms of smartphone sales in 2020. Moreover, the American embargo imposed on its compatriot Huawei also benefits the firm. The least we can say is that Xiaomi does not want to rest on its laurels yet by investing more in UWB technology.

Order Redmi Note 13 Pro and get Redmi Band 2 for free. The JD.com platform promises many bonuses to those who order the new Redmi among the first

The JD.com marketplace has rolled out an offer that is hard to refuse: the first buyers of Redmi Note 13 Pro are promised to receive a Redmi Band 2 fitness bracelet as a bonus. Considering that the smartphone itself will not be expensive, in addition to it, you can get a Redmi Band 2 for free for $20 – not bad at all.
Moreover, by paying just 1 yuan right now (that is, one day before the official premiere of the smartphone), you can count on a gift box worth $25. It includes wired Xiaomi headphones, a backpack and an electric toothbrush.
The only downside of JD.com’s offer is that there are only 2,000 of these gift sets. Considering how well the new Redmi Note sells at the start of sales, one might think that all these sets will be sorted out in a matter of seconds.
