Radar (Rational Alone Discovery Accompany Romantic), which is a Geely sub-brand, has revealed details about the Radar RD6 electric pickup truck. Recall that it was introduced about a month ago.

The Radar RD6 is a unibody pickup truck built on the reinforced modular SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform that previously formed the basis of the Zeekr 001 and smart #1 models. He received a wheelbase stretched to 3120 mm, a battery installed under the cabin floor and an independent suspension of all wheels.

The car has dimensions of 5260 x 1900 x 1830 mm, the length of the loading platform is 1525 mm, the volume is 1.2 cubic meters, and the “passport” load capacity is 755 kg. The cabin has a large touch screen multimedia system, a push-button climate control unit, a fully digital dashboard, leather seats with electric drive, a panoramic roof.

The car was equipped with four 220-volt outlets for household appliances at once, the total maximum power of which reaches 6 kW. To accommodate small luggage, sealed compartments are provided under the hood (70 liters) and the rear sofa (48 liters). The list of options includes a tent, a refrigerator and other accessories for outdoor activities.

Initially, Radar RD6 will receive only rear-wheel drive with a single 272-horsepower electric motor and a traction battery with a capacity of 85.9 kWh. Later, all-wheel drive twin-engine versions will be added, which will be able to accelerate to “hundreds” in the promised 6 seconds and drive more than 600 kilometers on a single charge.

Sales of electric Radar RD6 pickups will begin in China in the fourth quarter of this year, pre-orders are already being accepted, although prices have not yet been announced.

Chinese startup China Car Custom has unveiled the SC-01 (Sport Car 01) electric sports car. Deliveries of the car will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023, but the price is already known: it is 300,000 yuan, or about $42,000.

The design of the electric car is interesting. If the model received an original look from the front, then in profile the SC-01 has direct intersections with the first Tesla Roadster. But the view from the stern is even more interesting, as the features of the Lancia New Stratos are guessed in it. Dimensions: 4085 x 1820 x 1162 mm. Wheelbase – 2500 mm, weight – 1300 kg. SC-01 is an all-wheel drive car: there are two electric motors with a total power of 435 hp. Up to 100 km / h, the car accelerates in 3.9 seconds. The maximum speed and battery capacity have not yet been disclosed, but the cruising range is known – up to about 500 km on a single charge.

China Car Custom was founded in 2014 and has been tuning various models like the Porsche 911 and Mitsubishi 3000GT until now. The manufacturer has already filed a corresponding patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The description of the patent says that a special controller will monitor indicators such as steering angle and wheel speed, thereby determining the need to reduce the turning radius. Ford calls this feature “turn assist mode.”

When this mode is activated, the system reduces the torque transmitted to the rear inner wheel and sends more torque to both front wheels. Torque reduction for the rear wheels can be achieved by braking, and therefore the system can be used, including for front-wheel drive vehicles.

It is not yet known when such a system will be implemented in Ford production vehicles. It is quite possible that the development will not reach the stage of commercialization.

Ford is facing an unusual shortage. The auto giant has run out of nameplates, delaying deliveries, according to Carsoops, citing The Wall Street Journal.

According to sources, Ford had to delay deliveries of some car models because the company did not have enough of its logos and model nameplates. The shortage affected some important models for the American manufacturer, including F-series pickups.

Ford management looked for alternative solutions, but finding them turned out to be more difficult than one might think at first. In particular, the manufacturer tested 3D-printed logos as a temporary solution, but in the end, the company abandoned this idea, since such nameplates turned out to be of poor quality.

Tribar Technologies, which supplies exterior trim to Ford and many other manufacturers, was reportedly forced to halt production in August after dumping industrial chemicals into the local sewer system. According to the source, the release did not cause significant harm to the environment and at the moment Tribar is operating at full capacity. However, the suspension of production may well have been the cause of the shortage faced by Ford.

The other day, Ford said that by the end of the quarter, the company will have between 40,000 and 45,000 new vehicles in stock that cannot be shipped to dealers due to a shortage of parts. In addition to the shortage of nameplates, the manufacturer is in dire need of chips and other important components. According to analysts, supply problems may persist until 2024.
