Apple has patented a new design for the upcoming Apple Watch with a unique flexible display. The all-new Apple Watch smartwatch will receive a strap that will be an extension of the case – and all this will be covered by the display.
A new patent, entitled Display Modules and System Applications, filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), describes the design of a unique flexible display that will span the entire length of the bracelet. This display must be flexible enough to fit the shape of the user’s hand.
The document also states that between the screen and the back of the case and strap there will be many interconnects to which the LED array is electrically connected. In addition, the wearable device battery, processor, ambient light sensor and other important components can be placed not only in the usual part of the case, but also in the strap under the display.
Such a design will allow the company to offer fans minimized bezels around the display, making the design more futuristic and attractive. The only question is when these sketches will be implemented in a real device.
The next generation of Apple Watch should be presented in September this year, but the new watch is unlikely to differ in appearance from last year’s model.
No, the Apple Watch Ultra is not a copy of the iPhone 14. The repairability of the watch is not up to par
iFixit specialists dismantled the Apple Watch Ultra smart watch. They did not rate the maintainability, but the review makes it clear that after the iPhone 14, they expected more from the new product.
Despite the presence of screws and the ease of removing the back cover, immediately after that there is the first problem. Apple uses a thin rubber pad to implement increased water resistance, and replacing it will be extremely difficult. But on the other hand, as we have already seen today, the watch is indeed able to withstand immersion to a depth of more than 40 meters.
In addition, it will be very difficult to dismantle the screen without damaging it. Here and persistent glue, and the wrong angle of prying.
And the bottom line is that it is the screen that needs to be dismantled in order to get to the battery. As a result, Watch Ultra disappointed iFixit specialists, but judging by the review, the watch is no worse than previous generations in terms of maintainability.
Apple Watch Ultra can withstand diving deeper than 40 meters, which Apple says
Yesterday the Apple Watch Ultra was hit with a hammer, today we can see how they tried to drown it.
New Apple, recall, has an increased degree of protection, including from water. The company itself says that the watch can be submerged to a depth of 130 feet or up to 40 meters. As you can see, in the experiment, a pressure was created in a special chamber that is higher than what corresponds to the indicated depth, and the watch survived such an experiment without difficulty. By the way, after exceeding the above depth, the watch signals this and stops showing the exact value, indicating only that the threshold of 130 feet has been exceeded.
Apparently, the author did not create pressure higher than that which is at a depth of 160 feet or almost 50 meters. At the same time, it is worth remembering that, in general, Watch Ultra meets the specifications, which imply the possibility of diving to a depth of up to 100 meters, but so far no one has arranged such a test for the watch.
Apple Watch may have Touch ID – it is described by a new patent
In 2017, a patent appeared on the web that described the Touch ID system in the Apple Watch. He never got to the level of finished technology, but it seems that the company has not forgotten about it. According to media reports, a new patent on the same topic was recently discovered on the net. He describes Touch ID as a kind of “new touch device.”
Judging by the published images, the fingerprint scanner can be placed in the side button. Judging by the same patent, the recognition system will be much smaller than in the iPhone and iPad, which will fit the fingerprint scanner and other data into the watch.
Note that the presence of a patent does not always mean the emergence of a finished technology. A commercial solution to the 2017 patent application has not emerged. However, it is possible that biometric identification will still appear in the Apple Watch.
Earlier it was reported that the first Apple Watch Ultra has already been unpacked and compared with 45 mm Apple Watch
