Both AMD and Nvidia are reportedly actively working on multi-chip GPUs. Nvidia may have such solutions of the Hoper generation, and AMD may switch to chiplets as early as next year.
And today, for the first time, we can take a look at the technical details of AMD development, obtained directly from the patent. As always, the patent does not guarantee the implementation of the technology described in it, but in this case everything looks like what AMD is already using.
So, the main feature of this patent is indicated in its name – Active Bridge Chiplet With Integrated Cache. That is, an active chiplet bus with integrated cache memory. We can say that this is an evolution of the Infinity Cache technology, which debuted in the Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards.
The essence of AMD’s idea is to transform the interface that connects individual GPU chiplets, including the L3 cache.
AMD explains that any communication between the chiplets will be done through the active bus, which will be required to access memory channels on the individual GPU chiplets. In doing so, instead of relying on separate chiplet caches, the entire active bus cache will act like a monolithic GPU cache. That is, the memory will be addressed as a single register.
Unfortunately, it is not yet clear when such GPUs might hit the market.

Together with the MateBook 16s laptop, Huawei today introduced an inexpensive monitor. The novelty is called MateView SE. The monitor features a 23.8-inch IPS panel with Full HD resolution and a 75Hz refresh rate. Provides coverage of 90% of the DCI-P3 color space and 100% of sRGB.
The MateView SE is the first Huawei monitor to feature e-book mode, which mimics an E Ink screen for ease of reading. There are two video inputs – HDMI and DisplayPort.
MateView SE is available in two versions. The basic one for $120 comes with a regular stand that only allows you to change the angle of inclination. And the $135 MateView SE features a convertible stand that allows you to adjust the height and switch the display from landscape to portrait mode.
Huawei MateBook 16s unveiled, world’s first Intel Evo laptop with Intel Core i9-12900H processor
Huawei today officially unveiled the MateBook 16s laptop in China. The novelty is presented as the world’s first model based on the Intel Evo platform, which uses the top 14-core Core i9-12900H processor, reaching a frequency of 5.0 GHz. True, it is included only in the most expensive modification, and the simpler versions are equipped with Core i5 and Core i7 processors.
It would seem that the laptop is rather big, and a discrete 3D accelerator should work in tandem with such a powerful processor. But he is not. Therefore, the cooling system without any frills – two wide copper heat pipes and two fans.
The laptop’s 16-inch touchscreen features a 3:2 aspect ratio (resolution of 2520 x 1680 pixels) and 100% sRGB color space coverage. The DeltaE value, according to official data, does not exceed one.
The device configuration also includes a webcam that allows you to record Full HD video, a USB-C port with a Thunderbolt 4 interface (so you can still connect a 3D card), another USB-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 and an HDMI video output.
Housing Huawei MateBook 16s – all-metal. The battery capacity was 84 Wh, fast charging technology is supported: 50% in 30 minutes. The laptop is 17.8 mm thick and weighs 1.99 kg.
The base MateBook 16s with a Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD is priced at $1,045. The cost of the same version, but with a Core i7 processor, is $ 1,195. Finally, the top-of-the-line MateBook 16s with a Core i9 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD costs $1,495. Retail sales start June 6th.

So, AMD today really talked about the Ryzen 7000 processors and even showed them in action. For example, how some model in the game reaches a frequency of over 5.5 GHz.
But that’s not all. For example, now we are sure that AMD did not increase the number of cores this time, so the conditional Ryzen 9 7950X will be 16-core. And it was some 16-core CPU that beat the Core i9-12900K in Blender by an incredible 31%! True, AMD’s new products will eventually have to compete with Rocket Lake processors, and not the current Alder Lake, but this does not make the advantage any less impressive.
AMD also confirmed that the new generation of processors will be released in the fall. Exactly when is unclear, but there have been many rumors of a September release.
