There are no Huawei smartphones left in stores in China

Over the past two years, Huawei’s smartphone business has been in decline. Huawei does not deny that the company has been hit hard by the US sanctions. One of the company’s executives admitted that the company was simply trying to survive.

According to reports from China, Huawei smartphones are mostly not available in China. When a customer asked where he could get a Huawei smartphone, an employee at an official Huawei store in the Beijing area said, “It’s not just that there are no smartphones in our store. In other stores across the country, the situation is similar. “

After visiting several authorized Huawei stores in the districts of China, the situation was confirmed. Basically there are only two or three models in stock, and in some stores there is only one model.

Huawei’s consumer business CEO Yu Chengdong said the United States has imposed four rounds of sanctions against Huawei in less than two years. It hurt the business a lot. He explained that “The market share of Huawei’s high-end mobile phones and tablets in China is now owned by Apple. Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi claim the share of the middle and lower price segment. Our global market share is split between Samsung, Apple and several Chinese manufacturers. “

Smartphone shipments in the first quarter were 346 million units, according to IDC. This is 25.5% more than a year earlier. For the first time in many years, Huawei has not entered the top five in the global market. In the Chinese market, sales are now recovering. In the first quarter of 2021, smartphone shipments totaled 92.4 million units. Huawei is still in third position, but sales are expected to drop soon due to stocks running out.
