“The test results far exceeded expectations.” Xiaomi and Leica hint at the flagship capabilities of Xiaomi 12 Ultra
A few minutes ago, Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi, published a new poster on his collaboration with Leica on his Weibo page.
The photo shows Leica Camera AG CEO Matthew Harsch, who stated: “In the field of photography, Xiaomi and Leica share a common vision and both sides are fully committed to innovation. This guarantees high quality.”
Lei Jun confirmed that Xiaomi and Leica are looking forward to showing the new smartphone, and added, “Currently, the test results of the product have far exceeded expectations, and engineers from both sides are making further improvements.”
Previously, Lei Jun posted a couple of teasers on his page, in which he stated that he found his old Leica camera and decided to re-learn photography, which turned out to be quite difficult.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is rumored to have a 6.73-inch 3200 x 1440 pixel display that will use an AMOLED LTPO 2.0 panel. This will allow the display to adaptively adjust its refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Supposedly, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will get a Sony IMX800 image sensor, which will bring with it faster autofocus, improved low-light performance, and improved image stabilization. The optical format of the Sony IMX800 will be 1/1.1 inches, while the sensor will have a resolution of 50 megapixels. It will be one of the largest sensors on the market. In addition, the smartphone will receive a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens. The main camera will offer 120x zoom. The front camera will also have a resolution of 48 megapixels.

Samsung will remember how to make smartphones with removable batteries. This feature is confirmed for the “indestructible” Galaxy XCover6 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy XCover6 Pro smartphone will offer not only a very well-protected case, but also an ultra-rare feature in the form of a removable battery.
Earlier renders that appeared on the Web hinted at a removable back cover, but now the instruction manual has become available, where this is confirmed.
Slots for SIM cards will be located in the old fashioned way under a removable cover. To install or remove cards, you will need to remove the battery.
The smartphone will also receive a headphone jack, which is located on the top edge.
Recall, according to available data, the device will be based on SoC Snapdragon 778G. He will also receive 6 GB of RAM, a 6.5-inch screen and a dual main camera.

Compiled a rating of all devices on Apple Silicon and not only. You can clearly understand which SoC in which device is capable of what

The other day, new Apple PCs based on the SoC M2 went on sale. The source decided to compare all the current computers of the company on different platforms of the Apple Silicon family, and at the same time add new iPads and several generations of iPhone to the comparison.
The comparison here is based on Geekbench data, which is not as interesting as using any applications for real tasks, but still it is very interesting to look at the rating in this form.
This rating is generally quite predictable, but for some the results may be quite unexpected. For example, in one of the tests, the iPad Pro on the M1 turns out to be faster than full-fledged Macs on the SoC M1 cut down on the GPU. Since this is a graphics performance test, it actually makes sense.
It will also be useful to clearly see how the M2 in the processor test is not very far behind the M1 Pro with an eight-core CPU.
But the gap between any of the M1 versions and the A15 Bionic is always very large, which is explained not only by the difference in configuration, but also by completely different power limits.

“Ordinary bicycle arithmetic: 0.5 x 2 = 1 wheel.” American inventor built a “math bike”

An American engineer-inventor, credited on YouTube as “The Q” (possibly a reference to the James Bond character who led the Q department and supplied “Agent 007” with useful spy stuff) posted a video in which he showed the creation of a “math bicycle “. According to legend, the author broke a wheel during another bike ride, and at that moment he came up with the idea of creating a bicycle with two halves of wheels instead of one whole. Actually, the formula according to which the construction was carried out is included in the title of the video: 0.5 x 2 = 1 wheel.
I must say, the “math wheel” looks both unusual and spectacular at the same time. Judging by the video, it is quite possible to ride it, and not only on a flat road. Instead of a chamber in the halves of the rear wheel, a polyethylene pipe is used, attached to the rim with rivets – it certainly will not work.
The video is already being actively discussed on the Web – and even more: the “math bike” has become a meme. Its image is used by programmers and engineers to denote spectacular, but generally meaningless things and solutions.
