The shortage of microcircuits will affect the production of routers

Published

on

Recently, there has been an acute shortage of semiconductor products, especially in some market segments. Thus, automakers do not receive enough microcontrollers, which forces them to even stop pipelines, and video card manufacturers cannot provide such volumes of supplies of their products that would satisfy not only cryptocurrency miners, but also fans of computer games.

Manufacturers, starting with TSMC, are increasing their capacities, but it is not yet clear that the situation improves. By contrast, according to the latest Bloomberg report cited by the source, the next victim of a global chip shortage will be home internet router manufacturers. According to industry representatives, the waiting time for ordered products has doubled: from the usual 30 weeks to 60. In other words, the queue stretched out for more than a year. Meanwhile, the global COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing. At the same time, there remains an increased demand for home networking equipment as users work, study and play remotely.
