The Samsung Galaxy S8’s life cycle is over. Samsung has ended support for four-year flagships

Samsung has finally discontinued support for the four-year-old flagship Galaxy S8 series smartphones. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + smartphones (review) have disappeared from the fresh list of models receiving security updates.

Samsung has gradually phased out support for old flagships, starting with the fact that it did not release the 2019 operating system for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + – Android 10.

In May 2020, Samsung dropped the pair from the list of smartphones that receive monthly updates, but it still continued to update them every quarter. The last update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 was the April 2021 Android security update.

Interestingly, models such as the Galaxy S8 Lite and Galaxy S8 Active are still supported by the Korean manufacturer.
