The revolutionary Hasselblad camera in the OnePlus 9 smartphone is presented

OnePlus held a press conference this afternoon and announced a strategic partnership with Hasselblad to help improve the Chinese manufacturer’s smartphone camera capabilities. It was also confirmed during the press conference that the OnePlus 9 will be the first smartphone on the market with a Hasselblad camera. It supports shooting in RAW at 12-bit color depth, and also simulates Hasselblad’s unique mechanical shutter sound.

OnePlus said it has invested more than $ 150 million in the development of mobile imaging technologies over the past three years. In addition to the Hasselblad collaboration announcement, OnePlus also announced four imaging technologies, including a 140 ° ultra-wide-angle sensor camera, freeform lens, a new autofocus system, and an IMX789 sensor.

The 140 ° ultra wide angle sensor camera consists of two wide angle cameras and a triangular prism. Two cameras take pictures at the same time, after which a single image is obtained without distortion.

The new autofocus system is comparable in speed to the human eye, the speed has been reduced to 1 ms, which is 5-10 times faster than modern cameras. A camera with this system can focus quickly even when shaken.

In response to the distortion issue of ultra-wide-angle lenses, OnePlus also introduced free-form lens technology. With conventional aspherical lenses, distortion reaches 10-20%. The new technology can reduce distortion as low as 1%.

Also introduced was the Sony IMX789 image sensor, which is said to be the most expensive sensor ever. It supports 4K HDR video recording at 120 fps. The larger sensor area allows for more light and better image quality. All details about the sensor will be announced later.
