The promised support for Android applications in Windows 11 will not be at the time of release

Windows 11 will not be able to run Android apps when it launches this October. While software support for Android is one of the key features of Windows 11, Microsoft is not implementing it by the time the OS is released and will only begin public testing in a few months.

Microsoft General Manager of Marketing Aaron Woodman said the company is currently working with Amazon and Intel to bring Android apps to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store. He promised that the long-awaited functionality will debut in Insider Preview builds in the coming months.

At launch, the operating system will include promised integration with Microsoft Teams, a new design with a redesigned Start menu, improved multitasking, and a significantly redesigned app store.

Windows 11 will offer better performance and support for digital pen, touch, and voice input. The platform will provide new opportunities for developers and content creators. Windows 11 is also set to be Microsoft’s best operating system for gamers. It will unleash the full potential of your PC with technologies such as DirectX12 Ultimate, DirectStorage and Auto HDR.

Microsoft announced yesterday that the public launch of Windows 11 is scheduled for October 5th. The new operating system will be preinstalled on new PCs, and a free upgrade will be available for compatible computers running Windows 10. Existing PCs will be upgraded in phases, so all users of compatible Windows 10 systems will receive the new operating system by mid-2022.

Old Google Chrome extensions will stop working. At the beginning of 2023, the browser completely switches to the Manifest V3 platform

Google has decided to improve the situation with extensions for the Chrome browser. To do this, the company previously introduced Manifest V3 – a new platform for extensions.

As it became known, the existing extensions created on the Manifest V2 platform will work for a little over a year. On January 17, 2022, developers will no longer be able to post new Manifest V2 extensions to the Chrome app store, and in January 2023, such extensions will simply stop working. That is, the year of expansion on the Manifest V2 and V3 platforms will exist in parallel. At the same time, old extensions will not work, even if you install them from a third-party source.

One of the problems that developers initially faced with the appearance of Manifest V3 was the new Declarative Net Request API. The bottom line is that almost all ad blockers rely on the Web Request API and cannot work with the new set of tools. However, Google has already listened to the public with a number of changes.
