14 years ago, on June 29, 2007, the sale of the original iPhone smartphone began, which changed the world. Today it is difficult to go out and not meet a person holding an iPhone.
The first iPhone was deprived of many of the features that rivals had at the time, such as video recording, the ability to install third-party applications, MMS and 3G support. However, this did not stop him from winning the hearts of users from all over the world, completely changing the rules of the game in the smartphone market and becoming the main invention of 2007 according to Time magazine.
The original iPhone was unveiled in January 2007. Rumor has it that at the time of the presentation, there were only a few semi-working prototypes that could only complete tasks in a specific order. Deviation from this order caused the device to stop working.
However, within a few months, Apple specialists managed to fix the critical problems of the first iPhone. The appearance of the device on store shelves caused a stir, which was not observed before with any phone. People lined up in front of Apple stores and waited for days, just to be the first to buy a new product.
Fans were not embarrassed even by the sky-high cost of the device at that time – $ 499 for the basic version, which boasted only 4 GB of flash memory. In its first 30 hours, Apple sold 270,000 iPhones, and in 74 days, sales exceeded 1 million units. Steve Jobs later noted that it took the company almost two years to sell that many iPods.
The first iPhone was equipped with a Samsung S3C6400 SoC, 128MB of EDRAM, and up to 16GB of flash memory. The 3.5-inch TFT display has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and offers multi-touch functionality. The camera was 2 megapixel and only allowed for photographs.
Sales of all iPhone models have long exceeded one billion smartphones.
