The new Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms will finally catch up with Exynos. The company is preparing new SOC for smartwatches
Qualcomm seems to be finally ready to take on Samsung and release state-of-the-art single-chip smartwatch systems.
The company published a promotional video indicating the imminent release of such an SoC. There are no details there, but earlier there was information that the new solutions would be called Snapdragon Wear 5100 and 5100+.
They should be produced according to the 5 nm process technology, which will positively affect energy efficiency. In comparison, Samsung’s current Exynos W920 platform is manufactured at 5nm, while the Snapdragon Wear 4100 lineup uses the older 12nm process. That is, Qualcomm will immediately switch from 12 nm to 5 nm.
Also, earlier there were data on the configuration of the new SoCs: four Cortex-A53 cores and an Adreno 703 GPU.
