The most productive Android flagships around the world: the Antutu rankings are quiet, but not everything is so simple

The team of the popular AnTuTu benchmark has published a fresh ranking of the most productive smartphones based on the Android operating system in the international market. It differs markedly from the ranking compiled by AnTuTu in China.

According to experts from the AnTuTu team, in October, manufacturers almost did not launch flagships, mostly low-cost models before the upcoming sales at the end of the year. As a result, the changes compared to September are not too large, although they are.

The top 4 remained the same – the first place belongs to Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro with 858 734 points, followed by Asus ROG Phone 5 with 821 339 points, Realme GT with 810 510 and iQOO 7 with an average score of 801 238.

But then the differences begin. OnePlus 9 Pro (788,258) managed to climb to fifth place from eighth, Xiaomi Mi 11i took sixth instead of ninth (782,494), in seventh – Asus Zenfone 8 Mini, which took 10th place in September (782,463), in eighth – Mi 11 Ultra (780 181) instead of the previous sixth. The ninth and tenth places were taken by Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (774 3020) and Sony Xperia 1 III 5G (768 303), which failed to enter the top ten in September.

The entire rating is occupied by models based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC.

Statistics collected from October 1 to October 31, 2021. The AnTuTu ranking uses average, not the highest scores. For each smartphone, the results of at least 1000 tests were taken into account – models with fewer tests are not included in the rating.

Xiaomi has completed work on MIUI 13. Xiaomi 12 received the final assembly of the new interface based on Android 12

A developer from Poland and an active user of the XDA-Developers thematic forum, Kacper Skrzypek, shared an interesting observation: judging by the MIUI code, Xiaomi has completed work on the MIUI 13 firmware – stable versions for Xiaomi 12 have already been released in China. This is further proof that MIUI 13 will debut alongside Xiaomi 12, and the smartphone itself will receive this firmware based on Android 12 right out of the box.

We will remind, the official premiere of Xiaomi 12 is expected on December 28. The smartphone is credited with a completely new design (meaning the execution of the camera unit on the rear panel), a Samsung AMOLED screen of the latest generation E5, a 5000 mAh battery and a multi-module camera with a main sensor with a resolution of 50 megapixels. The hardware platform will be based on the recently announced SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

“This browser is like 2008”: Windows 10 and Windows 11 discourage users from downloading Chrome

Microsoft has taken another step to prevent users of its operating systems from switching from the proprietary built-in Edge browser to the rival Google Chrome.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 have started displaying hints when users navigate to the Chrome download page.

These alerts discourage users from installing a Google browser. Among these notifications:

  • “Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, but enjoys a lot of trust from Microsoft.”
  • “This browser is like from 2008! Do you know who’s new? Microsoft Edge “.
  • “I hate saving money,” no one will ever say that. Microsoft Edge is the best browser for online shopping. “

This is far from the first such attempt. Microsoft started testing “warnings” for users trying to install Chrome or Firefox back in 2018, but then dropped them. Also, Microsoft makes it difficult to work with third-party browsers on Windows. For example, in early November, Windows 11 stopped allowing links associated with Microsoft Edge to open in third-party browsers.

The team at the increasingly popular Vivaldi browser has announced a massive update to Vivaldi 5.0, which adds a number of innovations not available from the dominant Google Chrome browser.

The desktop version of the browser, available for Windows, macOS and Linux, has several important innovations. Firstly, in addition to the built-in translator of web pages, the new version adds the ability to translate only the text selected on the page. The translation sidebar is used for this purpose. Also in the new panel, you can view the history of translations.

Secondly, the design themes can now be shared with other users. Also, the sidebar of downloads can now be reconfigured to display downloads in a dialog box, command control has been expanded – page effects and search for selected text in a specific search service have been automated.

In the version of Vivaldi 5.0 for Android, it became possible to place groups of tabs on a two-level panel, by analogy with the desktop version. There are also new options in the browser settings that allow you to compact tabs – disabling the display of the close button on background tabs and displaying only website icons.
