The mission to simulate life on Mars has started: six people will live a month in spacesuits in the Israeli desert

The AMADEE-20 mission to create a simulated habitat for life on Mars has started. As part of a project by the Israel Space Agency and the Austrian Space Forum, a group of six astronauts will live for a month in the Ramon Crater in Israel.

The Austrian Space Forum is not a country-specific space agency, but an independent institution studying the practical aspects of the future colonization of Mars. The experiment was originally supposed to start in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. Six people – five men and one woman – will occupy a structure of about 120 square meters, which mimics the future habitat of astronauts on Mars. They will wear spacesuits and engage in various experiments.

The mission operators will be based in Innsbruck, Austria, but it is envisaged that communication between them and the astronauts is carried out with a delay of 10 minutes. It takes approximately this long for a signal to travel from Earth to Mars.

Sensors and cameras will continuously track astronauts’ movements and body signals. Outside the premises, they will have access to both ATVs and a drone. Part of the challenge for the coming month is to explore the possibility of navigation and communication on Mars, given the lack of GPS and cellular networks.

The hope is that by identifying problems and obstacles while still on Earth, plans can be developed to address them before humans arrive on Mars. Trying to find solutions at such a distance and with limited resources is many times more difficult.

The week began for the main cryptocurrencies of the world with a rise in price and the establishment of new price highs, and ends with a fall, and quite noticeable. Over the course of a day, Bitcoin loses about 4.5% of its value, and as a result, for 1 BTC now they give not $ 66,000, but about $ 60,500.

After Bitcoin began to fall, Ethereum was still holding, but its rate had already gone down too, dropping below the psychological mark of $ 4,000. Analysts believe that such a fall in cryptocurrencies is due to their sell-off on the part of investors – they are fixing profits against the backdrop of a strong growth in value that has been observed since the end of September. This means that after the current correction, Bitcoin may rush to new heights, but whether altcoins will follow it is a big question.

Interestingly, against the background of a decrease in quotations of other cryptocurrencies from the Top 10, Solana feels very confident: it grew by almost 6% per day, and by almost 25% in a week.
