The Japanese are starting to choose Samsung smartphones more often. The company increased its share in this market to a record high in 10 years
Samsung has managed to impressively increase its sales in the Japanese smartphone market.
According to Strategy Analytics data cited by the source, the Korean giant’s smartphone sales in Japan grew in the first quarter, but the source did not specify by how much. It is known that in general the smartphone market in Japan showed a decline, all major players also showed a decrease in sales, and Samsung was able to increase sales.
As a result, its share in the quarter rose to 13.5%, thanks to which Samsung overtook Sharp with its 9.2% and came in second place. Apple still remains the leader with its huge share of 56.8%.
It is also worth noting that the above share for Samsung is a record in Japan over the past 10 years. The best ever was the first quarter of 2013, when Samsung occupied 14.1% of the Japanese market.
The reason why Samsung smartphones have become more active in sales is due to the marketing activities of local Japanese carriers in the field of 5G. In particular, we are talking about support for the mmWave range, which is available in the current Samsung flagships.

Japanese Sony smartphones will become a little Chinese? The company is thinking about transferring its devices to the Flyme OS shell

Sony does not leave the idea of using Meizu’s Flyme OS shell in its smartphones.
At the moment, some devices of the Japanese giant in China are shipped out of the box with a number of applications and widgets from Flyme OS, but the source says that Sony is thinking about fully using the shell in their devices.
This is hinted at by a new survey conducted by Sony among users of Xperia smartphones. One of the questions just concerned the attitude of users to the possible integration of Flyme OS.
Recall that Sony became interested in the Meizu shell last year, signing relevant agreements with the company. So far, this initiative is limited to China, but it is not a fact that in the end Flyme OS will not become the main shell for global Xperia models.
