The iPhone may finally have a feature that was still on the old Nokia smartphones. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get Always On Display
Apple’s next generation of smartphones may finally get an important feature that has been on many Android phones for years. It’s about Always On Display.
In the current generation, in older models, Apple for the first time for the iPhone used displays with a higher frame rate. In particular, they can change the frequency from 10 to 120 Hz. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max may get screens that can drop down to 1Hz. And this will allow Apple to implement a very energy efficient version of the Always On Display.
Ross Young, founder of research firms Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, expects such a feature to actually arrive on the iPhone. Also, about a year ago, the appearance of this feature was also attributed to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, but for some reason Apple decided not to do this.
The Always On Display feature debuted on the Nokia 6303 feature phone in 2009, and then became more widespread on the Nokia smartphone with Simbian and Lumia devices.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs iPhone 14 Pro Max in a camera battle. Published a large video comparison of the two flagships

Despite the fact that there are still two weeks before the start of sales of Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones, full reviews of the camera of the older novelty have already been published on the Web. The author of the famous SuperSaf channel compared the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera with the iPhone 14 Pro Max camera.
Unfortunately, although the comparison is voluminous, it is far from being as informative as it happens on some other channels. However, there is still a lot of information.
As you can see, in low light, the brainchild of Samsung shows a wider dynamic range and detail. This is true for all cameras, including the ultra wide and tele cameras. But when shooting video at night, everything is not so clear. At least the Korean smartphone has a lot more noise and slower autofocus.
Of course, Samsung easily wins in the comparison of cameras, because it has two of them at once. Already at 10x zoom, the difference is very noticeable, and the iPhone cannot offer more than 15x at all.
Cinematic Mode on the iPhone clearly looks better, in addition, we can note a fairly significant difference in color reproduction, both in the photo and in the video.

Spied on Apple: Google will add to Android the ability to use a smartphone as a webcam for a PC

For some time now, Apple smartphones have been able to use them as a webcam paired with laptops or PCs. And now it is reported that the same feature will appear in Android 14. Mishaal Rahman, a journalist and developer, claims that DeviceAsWebcam will be added to the new system, which will turn an Android smartphone or tablet into a webcam.

Android devices that support the standard UVC (USB video class) mode will be able to stream the video stream, while all software processing will be done at the system level, that is, external applications such as Camo or DroidCam will not be required.
It is not yet clear whether this feature will be available to all smartphones with Android 14 or only the branded Pixel. If, nevertheless, the company decides not to make the feature exclusive, then all smartphones and tablets will receive support for this feature.

Earlier, Mishaal Rahman reported that Xiaomi offered to block the installation of APK files from third-party sources.

Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones may differ in speed: versions with 128 and 256 GB are equipped with different memory

As it became known, the versions of the Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphone equipped with 128 and 256 GB of flash memory differ in the type of this very memory.
The 128GB version uses slower UFS 3.1 memory. The 256GB version of the Galaxy S23 uses the new UFS 4.0 memory. In both cases, new LPDDR5X RAM is installed.
Allegedly, the base version may be slower in various scenarios than the 256GB version of the Galaxy S23. UFS 3.1 has a sequential read speed of 2100 Mbps and a sequential write speed of 1200 Mbps, while UFS 4.0 has a sequential read speed of 4200 Mbps and a sequential write speed of 2800 Mbps.
There is evidence that Samsung does not produce 128 GB UFS 4.0 memory chips. Only Kioxia makes 128GB UFS 4.0 memory, but even those don’t reach the required speeds. Therefore, Samsung decided to use UFS 3.1 flash memory for the lower version.
Samsung is offering a free upgrade for those who pre-order the Galaxy S23 series in many countries. For example, if you order the 128 GB version, you can get the 256 GB version.
