The iPhone is back in the lead again. The top ten best-selling smartphones in 2022 are nearly all Apple smartphones
Counterpoint analysts summed up the results of 2022 by naming the best-selling smartphones in the world. And their data looks quite curious.
The market leader was expectedly the iPhone 13. Exactly like the iPhone 12 before it, the iPhone 11 before it, and the iPhone XR before it. However, you can immediately notice that the iPhone 14 may not repeat the achievements of its predecessors, since at the end of 2022 it was only in seventh place. Of course, 2023 has only just begun, but so far the new base model doesn’t look as strong as many generations before it. Although it is already worth noting here that in December it was the iPhone 14 that took first place, so obviously not everything is lost for the model.
The second place was taken by the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and the third place was already taken by the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which, unlike its younger brother, did not prevent the launch in the fall of 2022 from taking an honorable third place. And here it is worth noting that the second and third places were taken by the most expensive Apple models of two generations. That is, Apple has already managed to shift sales towards more expensive versions, and all available rumors and leaks say that in the new line, the division between younger and older iPhones will be even more noticeable.
The top ten also includes Samsung Galaxy A13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 12, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone SE 2022 and Galaxy A03. That is, in the top ten there are almost all iPhones of the current and previous generations, except for the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 14 Plus.
Analysts note that in 2022, for the first time, iPhone Pro Max models outsold iPhone Pro within the same generation. We can see that this was true for both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13.
The base iPhone 13 accounted for 28% of all Apple sales. It can be seen that this model was the market leader all the time until the release of the new generation.

March 28 is a holiday for all users of the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra. On this day, One UI 6.1 is released for smartphones
Samsung promised to release the latest One UI 6.1 firmware for Galaxy S23 series smartphones at the end of March, and now a specific date has been announced: a big event for all users of last year’s flagship line of the Korean company will take place on March 28.
This date was confirmed by the Chinese office of Samsung (Galaxy S23 users began receiving notifications about the release of One UI 6.1 on March 28), as well as by the moderator of the official Samsung forum.
It should be noted that not all Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra will simultaneously and immediately receive the latest firmware. Typically, a company starts with several countries (China is apparently one of them), and then gradually expands its geography and user coverage.
Let us remind you that it became known earlier that smartphones of the Galaxy S23 line will receive all the AI functions (Galaxy AI) available for smartphones of the Galaxy S24 series.

The iPhone 16 Pro will be released only in six months, and the first test results of the Apple A18 Pro have already appeared on the Internet
The first results of testing the Apple A18 Pro single-chip system, which should be installed in the iPhone 16 Pro, appeared today on the Internet.
The device running Apple A18 Pro scored 3570 and 9310 in Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core tests, which is 22% and 28% faster compared to the A17 Pro. In Geekbench 5, the Apple A18 Pro scored 2571 and 7359, which is 20% and 38% higher than the A17 Pro.
In the second leak, the results are somewhat closer to the A17 Pro. The future chipset scored 2822 and 8571 points in Geekbench 6, as well as 2517 and 7359 points in Geekbench 5.
The Weibo user who shared the comparison testing results says that these only show the state that current prototypes are in. This is because Apple and other companies allow their chipsets to perform at their maximum potential. OEMs then work to achieve a balance between performance and energy efficiency. We will find out what the real performance will be closer to the release of new products.
The Apple A18 Pro chip is expected to be based on TSMC’s 3nm process. According to rumors, it will consist of two powerful processor cores and six low-power cores.
