The iPhone 15 Pro Max couldn’t beat the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in terms of zoom. Smartphone cameras compared in a large test
The iPhone 15 Pro Max camera has finally been compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera. Considering that the new Apple product for the first time for the iPhone received a “telephoto” with a five-fold zoom, this comparison looks more interesting than usual.
Both flagships, of course, take photographs and shoot videos very well, and it is impossible to single out a clear leader.
If we talk about the same zoom, then at a three-fold zoom, the Samsung flagship takes pictures a little better, because it has a camera with exactly this zoom, whereas in the iPhone 15 Pro Max it is a crop from the main sensor. At five times the situation is the opposite: the iPhone looks better, since its telephoto lens provides five times zoom. At 10x zoom, the S23 Ultra looks a little better because it has a second telephoto lens, but the iPhone overall delivers a very similar level. But at 25 times the situation is more interesting. If in general the iPhone, surprisingly, lags behind its competitor far from catastrophically, although noticeably, then when it comes to working with text, the difference between smartphones is huge. At 25x zoom, the S23 Ultra has no problems displaying text, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s processing algorithms seem to eat up the text, and sometimes it becomes completely unreadable. Well, Apple’s flagship can’t zoom even closer at all, and the S23 Ultra, as you know, allows you to take pictures with a 100x zoom.
With photography in poor lighting, not everything is clear either. In some pictures the iPhone confidently pulls ahead, while in others it performs very poorly compared to its competitor. At the same time, the iPhone takes night shots noticeably faster.
Everything is simpler with video: here Apple’s brainchild, as usual, is better, both during the day and at night. True, the iPhone cannot shoot video in 8K and, again, loses when zoomed in significantly.

Nubia Z60 Ultra will refute the thesis about the uselessness of ultra-wide-angle cameras in smartphones

The Nubia brand today published details about the camera of the future flagship Nubia Z60 Ultra. In particular, we are talking about its module with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
With its new flagship, Nubia will try to “refute the theory that wide-angle cameras are useless.” This refers to photo quality: modules with ultra-wide-angle lenses are equipped with low-quality optics, low-resolution sensors and small optical formats, and all this naturally leads to the fact that the photo quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera is much inferior to the photo quality of the main camera.
But this will not happen in the Nubia Z60 Ultra: the corresponding module will have a fast (F/1.8) 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch optical format sensor, complemented by an eight-element lens and an optical stabilization system. In general, this model will have triple OIS – in each of the three modules.
The official premiere of Nubia Z60 Ultra will take place on December 19. The smartphone will receive Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6000 mAh battery and IP68 protection.

One UI 6.0 on Android 14 released for Galaxy S21 FE in Europe

At the beginning of the week, One UI 6.0 firmware based on Android 14 was released for the Galaxy S21 FE version for the North American market, and now a similar version of the software has been released for the European Galaxy S21 FE.
Update number G990B2XXU5FWK3, is already being distributed in Europe (particularly in Germany). The software is 2.4 GB in size and includes the November Android security updates.
Let’s remember that the Galaxy S21 FE came out in January 2022 with Android 12 out of the box. Android 14 is not the last for it – Samsung promises to release Android 15 for this model.

A truly unique smartphone design. Nubia Z60 Ultra turned out to be extremely unusual

The Nubia brand cannot boast of a large assortment of smartphones or good sales, but what cannot be taken away from Nubia devices is the design. Recently, everyone was surprised by the gaming Red Magic 9 Pro with cameras without any protrusion and a flat, minimalistic design, but now images of the flagship Z60 Ultra have appeared on the Internet, which does not look like Red Magic, but at the same time looks no less unusual, if not more.
As you can see, the device does not have any separate block of cameras, while three cameras are placed in an unusual way and each is designed in its own way.
Thanks to this design, the Z60 Ultra does not look like any other smartphone at all, and not even close. Plus, it has the most angular shapes and a screen without any cutouts, since the front camera is sub-screen.
The new Nubia should receive SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh and cameras with a resolution of 50, 50 and 64 megapixels, including a periscope module.
