The American company Purism, which relies on free software, computer security and privacy, has introduced its new smartphone. A model called Liberty Phone turned out to be the most expensive in the Purism line of smartphones and outperforms even the flagships of Apple and Samsung, while offering very modest and, for the most part, long-outdated technical specifications.
According to the company, Liberty is an updated version of the popular Librem 5 USA model, which received more RAM and built-in flash memory – 4 and 128 GB, respectively.
The main highlight was that all Liberty Phone electronics are made in the USA and received the Made in USA marking.
The company emphasized:
Liberty Phone offers a secure supply chain within the United States in compliance with strict US labor, environment and materials laws. Liberty Phone includes Made in USA electronics from the Purism factory, where US workers combine best-in-class regulatory compliance with the most secure supply chain.
Specifications include NXP i.MX 8M platform debuted in 2017 (four ARM Cortex-A53s with a maximum frequency of 1.5 GHz), 5.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels, support for WiFi 4 and Bluetooth 4, port USB 3.0 Type-C, 13 and 8 MP cameras, 4500 mAh battery, 3.5 mm audio jack and microSD card slot. The smartphone comes with proprietary PureOS with built-in privacy protections, but other mobile Linux distributions can be installed. Purism notes:
Liberty Phone is a phone built on PureOS, a completely free, open source, ethical operating system that is not based on Android or iOS
For all this, they ask for $ 2,199, sales of the Purism Liberty Phone have already begun.
The culprit behind overheating of the new iPhone 15 is saving on the cooling system. But the new items are lighter than their predecessors
iPhone 15 smartphones, among other things, sometimes seem to suffer from excessive heating. This is especially true for the Pro versions equipped with the most advanced three-nanometer A17 Pro platform. However, the problem does not seem to be with the platform. At the very least, insider and TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo blames another aspect.
According to him, the issue is in the cooling system of smartphones in general. The overheating is likely caused by “thermal design compromises” that allowed Apple to reduce the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models. Kuo says the reduced heat dissipation area and titanium body negatively impacted heat dissipation efficiency.
Indeed, if you look at the disassembled new products, there is no dedicated cooling system with an evaporation chamber or heat pipes. However, like previous generations of iPhone.
This is what the new Xiaomi smartphone looks like for $100. Redmi 13C images
High-quality images of the new budget Xiaomi smartphone – Redmi 13C – have appeared on the Internet. As the name suggests, this model will replace the Redmi 12C, the basic version of which costs only $95 in China.
There is no data on the characteristics of the new product. We can only say that the resolution of the main sensor of the main camera will be 50 megapixels. There will also be a standard jack for connecting wired headphones. The new product will be offered in three colors: green, black and blue.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 13C will not be much better than the Redmi 12C. Let’s remember that the current model is built on SoC MediaTek Helio G85, equipped with a 50-megapixel camera, a 6.71-inch screen and a 5000 mAh battery with support for 10 W charging.
Huawei’s capacity is limited. Huawei Mate 60 smartphones will not be released even on the Taiwanese market
The Huawei Mate 60 series of smartphones caused a stir after the announcement; smartphones are actively selling out. However, Huawei officials have confirmed that the Mate 60 series will not be released in overseas markets.
When asked if the Mate 60 series has a chance to appear at least in the Taiwanese market, Yun Hai, general manager of Huawei Xunwei Technology in Taiwan, said: “Currently, the production capacity of this series of mobile phones is still limited, so they will be available only in mainland China.”
Yong Hai noted that Huawei was originally expected to release 5 to 6 million Mate 60 series smartphones, but now Huawei’s plans are “increasing more and more.” He added that Huawei mobile phones have not been sold in the Taiwanese market for 3 years. Sales channels, stores, service centers require reinvestment, so Taiwan will not be a priority market for the Mate 60 series at this time.
Yesterday, Huawei introduced the top model of this line, which was called Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design. IT Home was the first to publish unboxing photos.
Earlier it became known that Huawei managed to use memory chips produced by Samsung, Kioxia and even Micron, as well as SK hynix, despite US sanctions. Samsung Electronics said it has not traded with Huawei since the sanctions were imposed.
